You have been chosen as an ALTERNATE for the PCC Career Ladder Nursing Program. Good news! This means that you continue to have an opportunity to be selected to come into the Career Ladder Nursing Program in the event a selected student declines the invitation to enter the program. If you are selected to replace an individual you will receive an email to that effect. You will have 24 hours from the email to reply before we offer the admission to another alternate. Please do not call the office to check on your status as we will contact you immediately if your status changes. Your alternate status ends on June 28, 2013.
Please be advised that an assessment test called ATI TEAS V is required which tests knowledge of English, Math, Science and Reading. We would like to have you take the TEAS V test at no charge to you. This would prepare you for faster admission in the event that you are contacted to begin the program. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that your status will change from that of an alternate to accepted.
Enrollment in the Summer 2013 Career Ladder program is contingent upon a composite score of 62 on this test. Study materials and practice tests are available on the ATI website at http://www.atitesting.com/global/students/teas-study-manual.aspx. Study for this exam!
If you are going to accept the opportunity to take the TEAS V exam, you must contact ****** to confirm you will be attending the scheduled testing date by Friday, April 26. The TEAS V testing date is Monday, May 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m.in Room 205 (Assessment Office), Building D at the 1570 East Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91106 campus. You should plan to arrive 15 minutes early to sign in. An email account is required in order to take the test. You will also need to provide a photo ID (drivers license).
If you are not selected for admission, you will need to submit a new application. Transcripts are kept for four (4) semesters from the date of the last application. The next application period is July 1 August 1, 2013.
We strongly encourage you to complete all courses required for your Associate Degree because the Nursing Program is very rigorous and needs your full time focus.
Also, courses such as Nursing 201, Chemistry 2A, Humanities 2, and Medical Assisting 115 are recommended electives to better prepare you for success.
Sincerely,
Nursing Programs Director
Honestly, I think we still have a bit of a wait for ADN acceptance emails. Apparently a few folks called and have been told "last week in April." So by the most cheerful estimates, we're looking at next week/week after. I have a suspicion it may take longer than that, but that's probably due to my general bummed-outed-ness after things took so long last year. I may have some baggage! :/ I think we all probably wish we knew when we could expect to hear; should be next several weeks at any rate. Best of luck! I imagine getting the "You're accepted!" email makes all the waiting seem like no biggie!
Congrats on the alternate letter! I have zero experience with how things work at Cerritos, so I don't know how far down their alternate list they usually end up going. I do know that at least a couple of schools completely exhausted their alternate list in the past and ended up going back into the applicant pool for selection... Congrats again!
