Hi,
I've heard that it's not recommended to work while enrolled as a student in an RN program. I'm applying for the Spring Semester at PCC and while I do intend to leave my current employer should I be accepted, I was wondering if there were people who made the attempt to work part-time or possibly in the summer.
Any opinions?
Thanks!
I was thinking about that too. I've been hearing that many hospitals prefer BSN. I'm worried we won't get jobs because of our associate's degree..I'm applying for Cal States for next fall..it's just frustrating because each school I want to apply to have different prereqs just to get in. I was wondering if it's better to get my ADN first then go for BSN, or go straight for BSN.
ADN is 2 years. BSN is 3
Bridge programs are 1-3 years depending on part or full-time. I mean I doubt ill get accepted to PCC because I have that dumb B in English.
I hear ya bout different pre reqs. It's incredibly frustrating.
I'm doing my last 2, this fall which is o chem and stats, as well as a foreign language.
You done with all pre reqs?
I'm still working on my 60 units. I should have at least 60 units after this fall semester though. After fall, I'll need history and ochem. It's so hard to into that chemistry class. If I don't get into PCC in spring, I'll take chem and history..but I think to apply to a cal state we would have to be done with those before spring huh? So if we got our ADN first and decided to go for our BSN, it would only take a year? That's not bad. Don't think negative. You could still get in even with your B in English. The science classes are more important. :)

Oh you dont have the 60 units? You going to PCC right now? I go to Citrus College which is right down the 210
Actually you can apply CSULA right now, well not technically right this second but around oct you can
CSULA is accepting applications for fall 2012 BSN program starting sept 1-dec 1
As long as you have anatomy, physio, inorganic chem, english, critical thinking, and intro to psych done before march 23(?) of next year, you still are eligible. Plus you need to take the TEAS before dec 30th and turn it in.
You have to apply to the school oct 1 then once you get your pin and stuff for CSULA you apply to their nursing program. if you have any volunteer or healthcare experience then turn that stuff in too.
Thats what I am doing.
I think it all depends on my summer grades, my overall GPA sucks, but luckily my sciences saved me. I am studying for the TEAS as of now and going to take it before fall semester starts. I just need at least a 90% in reading and english to get enough points to be competitive for CSULA.
YOu should apply there too
I still haven't taken critical thinking..I took this philosphy/logic class that could count as critical thinking to other schools like CSUF and CSUSB so I thought I didn't need English 1C. But those schools want ochem. Now that I realized CSULA doesn't require ochem, they only accept english 1c for the critical thinking part..these prereqs never end. I guess I'd have to take eng1c for winter session at mt.sac to be able to apply for fall next year. I'm also taking the TEAS V Test by the end of this month. I haven't had the chance to really fully study it since I'm taking a summer class. Thanks for the info :) Good luck on your TEAS by the way!
