Pasadena City College LVN to RN application 2023

Published

Hello all! I am starting a new thread for PCC LVN to RN career ladder program. I applied again for the second time. This is for the July application cycle with a start during the Winter intersession. Would like to know who else applied to this program. Good luck to all! :)

sorry I'm asking it here because people are more active in helping here than newer threads plus the onhand experience. how many maroon and black uniforms should I purchase? I was thinking 2 each color but should I purchase more?

2 of each is fair, honestly right now I am working with just 1 of each and it works out just fine I need maroon 1 day and the black 1 day for clinical

Hello, for those in or completed the ADN program can you give any insight to the 8-week LVN-RN transition course? How is it? Difficulty? Anything I should do to get a head start? Any FYIs? Thanks in advance.

It's not too difficult this is the book we used for this class for Jan this year

Nursing Leadership, Management, and Professional Practice For The LPN/LVN

Sixth Edition

Class was 1 day a week half lecture half skills. You'll just go over basic skills as a refresher like physical assessment and foleys. The theory is based off of that book

so only 1 book for the class? Do you by chance still have the syllabus for the course? I found a 2022 syllabus but it was showing 2 different books. Also when I look up the class on the Pasadena bookstore site it also shows different textbooks 😩

Yes, I bought that big book 2 months ago. Do we read the entire book? Is theory heavy on material from it?  Also thank you!

@Brightside8060 @Lizzylvn how was the dosage calculation test in NURS210? it says we need to pass it with 95% according to the handbook. was it hard?

I would start watching YouTube videos about dimensional analysis and reviewing conversions (mcg-mg-g and lbs to ounces etc.) you basically teach yourself we didn't go over any dosage calculations in class just whatever is on ATI.

@Brightside8060 @Lizzylvn CONGRATS GUYS! YOU DID IT!

thank you. I got one more question if you don't mind: do they have a cafeteria there? microwave at least? I went to check it out last weekend and it looked like a small building.
