Pasadena City College LVN program

Published

For pcc’s LVN program is it better to complete all prerequisites? I've read that in progress work is accepted. Does this mean the CNA certification  too? I was planning to get the CNA completed before applying. If anyone can share their experiences that would greatly be appreciated ty!

Hi!

Has anyone been accepted? I wanted to apply for this years application but missed it. ? Do you happen to know what their application looked like & do they go by a point system? Thanks!

Hi Losangeles1990,

I'm an alternate for the fall 2021. I haven't seen anyone in any of the forum posts that have been accepted into the program. The application is very simple and its only available during the application period. The application requires you to submit a copy of your transcripts and CNA certification. You're going to have to request a copy to be sent directly to the school and another copy to yourself, you need to save it as a PDF format and submit/upload it to your application. For the CNA certification, you need to upload the card you received from the state or documentation stating that you passed the CNA written and skills tests. You can also go the CNA verification website and take a screenshot of your info and upload it (I didn't have my CNA card so that's what I did). You also need to submit proof of where you took your CNA course - I uploaded an unofficial transcript for the CNA course. I think you need to upload a resume, not sure. Finally, you need to submit your hs transcripts as well. I uploaded an unofficial high school transcript. I hope this helps.

You can always call the nursing department. When I called they were nice and answered all my questions.

Do you know if they give you additional points if you have a bachelor degree or work experience in health care if you need to submit a resume? Do you mind if I ask your stats & alternate number please? ?I am hoping you get in! If you do hopefully we can keep in contact in case I get in the future.

Thanks! I wasn’t sure how to tag you to reply.

Thank you so much! I hope so too. So, I received an email stating to not call the office to check on our status because they weren't going to provide that type of information. The email also stated that they will be sending out emails to alternate students until August so we need to keep a lookout for an email because they were only going to give us 24 hours or less to respond before moving on to the next student. Who knows how many people are on the waiting list ?

I don't remember if we have to submit a resume. I have a bachelors but I don't think it matters if you have a bachelors or work experience for the lvn program. I recall in the info sessions, there was no mention about getting points. I do know for sure it matters for the RN program. My stats are Anatomy A, Nutrition A, LifeSpan A and Physio C.

Yes, of course! If I get in. We can definitely keep in touch.

I wish there were more options for points! I have a B in Physiology & A’s for nutrition, anatomy & life span psychology. It seems as though they take the straight “A” students first. Definitely let us know if you get in! ? Are you on any of the nursing facebook pages? I haven’t seen any updates on there either.

Your stats are good. I'm sure you will get in next year. No, I haven't been keeping up with the facebook pages.
