Pasadena City College ADN Spring 2024

Published

Hey Everyone! Attempt #2! Just thought I'd make a thread for PCC's Spring 2024 ADN applicants. This is my second time applying and applications open up tomorrow August 1 - August 15. I will also be appling to other schools like College of the Canyons, Pierce College, Antelope Valley College, and Butte College. I wish everyone the best of luck!

Los Angeles City College has sent out acceptance emails?

I received an alternate acceptance letter on the 21st.

I just received an email that I'm an alternate for Spring

Same here as an alternate, don't expect to get in.

Did you also apply with 85 points? ?

I just got an email too that I'm an alternate for PCC, I applied with 80 points. But I also got accepted at GCC.

I'm so happy for you! Congrats!!

Thank you, if I get in as an alternate, I'm really gonna have a hard time deciding because PCC is my homeschool, and I live in Pasadena , and I know a few people that are in the program already. But then also, GCC is really not that far from me, and it's also a really good school with high pass rate, so im not sure what I'm gonna do.

I got accepted into College of the Canyons' ADN program, but also just received the email from PCC about being an alternate for Spring. Did anyone attend/know someone that joined either of these programs? I appreciate any feedback!

sorry for the late reply.

So under my notes I have PCC $7,500-$8,200  if interested in APU is an additional $16,500

Hey Keen, I can't private message you back. It's not letting me since it said I need at least 15 posts. I just made this account. Sorry about that. But yes, I'm able to get financial aid. And thank you for letting me know about the price! So it sounds like the pricing is about the same as GCC, huh?

Also, you said you know people who went to PCC's nursing program. Can you let me know their reviews about the program? Did they like it?

yes, it's about the same price for both schools. A Current student at GCC told me that with financial aid they ended up paying about $2k out-of-pocket. I also heard back from PCC as an alternate so if I get the alternative position I'll be deciding what school I want to choose but so far right now I'm thinking GCC is winning for me just because they're NCLEX  pass rates are a little bit higher.

Their pass rates actually went down about 10% for this year, so that's why I picked PCC instead of going to GCC, since PCC pass rates has been steady around the 90% area.

Glendale Community College: 2021-2022 = 97.37% | 2022-2023 = 88.52%

Pasadena City College: 2021-2022 = 89.58% | 2022-2023 = 90.91%

but if you do the average percentage for the last four years, GCC is at 95.5, and PCC is at 91.1, also PCC has been very disorganized in my opinion so that seems like a really big red flag to me, even though PCC is my homeschool, and I love it. But I don't think you will go wrong with either choice. They're both top-notch schools, so whichever school you decide on, I think you're in good hands.
