I was recently informed that a law was passed that would allow for PA's to practice anesthesia as CRNA's do. Was wondering if someone could shed some light on this, how it will work, what kind of training they will have to get and how this will effect the job market in the future. Being that I will be starting CRNA school soon, I would like to know what a future in the anesthesia profession will look like with other practitioners involved.
Rather than start this whole thing up again...
Do a search on this board for Anesthesiologist Assistant. You'll find more info than you want to know, and if that's not enough, PM me and I can fill you in. And just to quickly clarify - AA's have been around for 35 years, it's not a new thing. There is no law allowing PA's (the kind you're thinking about) to practice anesthesia.
