That's what I figured.. so I would work either Friday and Saturday 7p-7a or Saturday and Sunday 7p-7a, correct? Has anyone done this, if so what are some pros and cons? Would there likely be a potential for me to switch to a regular work week if a position opens up? This job is in a specialty and hospital I LOVE.. I'm just worried about the burnout of working only weekends.

I did it for 10+ years while homeschooling my kids. It gets old but it worked for my needs at the time. Pros are if you want to work OT- you have five nights off a week. Your schedule is 100% predictable.
A lot depends on your social and (if you are so involved) church life is like.
I have been doing it for nearly 2 yrs (March will be 2 yrs). I am required to work every Sat & Sun and all holidays that fall on Sat and Sundays. I am allowed to take off one weekend per quarter plus one extra weekend off during the year. In exchange for agreeing to those conditions, they pay me an extra $10/hr on Sat and Sundays. I choose to also work Mondays, but do not get the extra $10/hr and I am not limited on taking vacation days on Mondays. It comes out to be around $12,500 extra per year ($480 per paycheck) compared to working regular day shift.
I love the extra money and have 4 days off in a row every week which means I can take a 3 day trip without taking vacation time.
Some hospitals still use the "Baylor Plan". They pay you 1.5X for Sat and Sun. which is essentially work 2 days and get paid for 3 days.

Hi all! I am a senior nursing student applying to jobs. I found a job I am interested in, but it is listed as "part-time, weekend incentive night shift, 48". Can anyone explain exactly what this means? I've tried googling it and can't fine much of an answer.. thanks!
