Hello--I am considering nursing as a second career and I am wondering how easy it would be to obtain a part time RN position. Do part-time positions come with medical benefits? Thanks.

I think it depends on the speciality you want to work in and also the nursing shortage status in your area. Around here there are plenty of part-time nursing jobs. Agencies also pay great but I think you need some experience for most of them. Most part-time jobs offer either benefits that you will pay a bit more for than full time employees or a higher per-diem rate.

part time jobs are a plenty but be ready to work the hours that are hard to fill. benefits a possibility but you'll pay more for them.

I've always worked part time as a nurse. I work a .6 (which means 6 shifts per pay period). Our hospital will pay benefits to anyone who works a .5 or greater (which would be 20 hours a week).
I'm sure it varies place to place, but there are tons of part time jobs available for most any shift you want.
