Part time dilemma

Published

Summary: i work full time at a local hospital and part time at a correctional facility, i found that working at the cf more financially rewarding, less stress, and better working environment, i stay at the hospital for the skill set they offer. my dilemma is that while the cf is offering me a more permanent and full time position, it wont happen for a while and i hope to change my status in the hospital to parttime, for personal reasons; my problem is that if i pull through w my plans ill have two part time jobs and no health insurance to cover my behind, i need advice is what i could do...are there outside health/retirement insurances/plans that i can get?

newbie nurse, and super noob to the work force, any advice would be of great help.

Check with both comp & benefits department & check on benefits.

Many hospitals offer health benefits down to a 0.6FTE. Your share would be larger, but still cheaper than buying on your own.

Retirement? See if either offers a 401k/403b to part-timers; or just set up an IRA or Roth IRA on your own. Fidelity, T Rowe Price, Vanguard all offer automatic deposits for as little as $25-50 per month.
