I want to be an NP, but...
I was thinking, what if I took a MSN in Gerontology Nursing/ Leadership or "something" and go back to get a "Post Master's" in NP after when I am a little more financially secured to relocate. What do you folks think?

I want to be an NP, but...
:) I actually work at the Naval base now, I know a few DNPs, NPs, and MDs that are willing to precept me. A few visits isnt really a problem but a majority of the universities Ive spoken too arent even willing to let me apply because where I'm at. Am I doing this right?

I want to be an NP, but...
Hello All, To start off, I want to be an Adult/Gero NP. I have done all my research and the only thing that's stopping me is where I'm at...GUAM, a US territory. Ive looked everywhere! No school wants to take me on because of where I live. I cannot afford to relocate. Anyone have suggestions of schools that I might have missed? I need a school that: 1. Is completely online. 2. Willing to let me take clinicals on Guam, even if I have to find preceptors myself 3. No GRE/GMT/MAT 3. Will let me start soon! Please help, im getting so discouraged. Thanks!

Airforce Reserves, but not as a Nurse
Hello, Ive come here hoping for some advice regarding my little predicament. I'm a US licensed nurse, born and raised in the US and have completed most of my education here except for the last two years of college which I finished in the RP. Ive always wanted to join the military but I've also come to terms, after all the research and meeting w recruiters, I wont be able to join as a commissioned officer and my best bet would be an enlistee, and even w that I wont be able to practice nursing, so an enlistee w the Airforce Reserves seems to be where I'm looking at right now. My question is, how should i start preparing, should i be afraid it's always the boot camp that's been discouraging me from joining before now, how is it during training and you a girl w "girl problems"...am i making a mistake? Going back to school is not an option for me since I want the military to pay for it, im not in a position to be paying off school and waiting til then. The military recruiter here suggest i go back to get an "american" BSN before going in...Any advice would be nice, tnx

Part time dilemma
Summary: i work full time at a local hospital and part time at a correctional facility, i found that working at the cf more financially rewarding, less stress, and better working environment, i stay at the hospital for the skill set they offer. my dilemma is that while the cf is offering me a more permanent and full time position, it wont happen for a while and i hope to change my status in the hospital to parttime, for personal reasons; my problem is that if i pull through w my plans ill have two part time jobs and no health insurance to cover my behind, i need advice is what i could do...are there outside health/retirement insurances/plans that i can get? newbie nurse, and super noob to the work force, any advice would be of great help.

newbie blues
I'm in need of some advice...i'm a newbie nurse, 3 months young, and I've already made two med errors! all in the same night! I feel terrible and terribly depressed. i got written up for both.i spoke w my supervisor about it and she's told me the write ups were for "education purposes" and that i shouldn't think about it too much...BUT that three "pink slips" (as they're called) would warrant a write up! write up to where i dont know. i'm scare stupid now, for my license and not to mention my job. i love my job in the er even with all the vultures around me... fyi the med errors were: giving toradol 60 mg iv rather than im, no harm done to patient, even got discharged w no pain and md notified, he said no harm and even took the blame since his order spelled out iv instead of im. and giving rocephin 2gm ivp, i got confused since the pt was in an emergency setting and all and it slipped my mind (not an excuse, i know), again no harm done to pt or adverse effect noted. please advise me, idk what to do, my record's been tainted already and ive hardly even started, im so afraid to go to work now, im actually dreading going to work tomorrow because of all of this.

Need Help Scheduling NCLEX exam
as far as i know, the there is a review at the University of Guam nursing college around May or June with a donation and theyll let you join the review of the graduating seniors. I also saw a flier at the licensing office of an RN offering a full on NCLEX review for 300 too, i dnt know too much since i just glanced at the flier. u should call them as ask for the details. sorry, here, only about 25 bsn nursing students graduate every year so a review center isnt a very profitable business also since they have their own review at school.

What are you supposed to feel?
What are you supposed to feel after taking the NCLEX? A lot of posters here say they felt like they failed and did terrible and it seems like the accepted feeling is that one must feel like they failed to have passed. i know this thread seems trivial but i just wanted to know if feeling good after the exam may not be a bad thing either? any thoughts from nclex takers and passers?
