1. Where can I find the application at?! The email says go to seach jobs and search nurse resident, nothing comes up. I graduate in August from a BSN program in East Texas. The school just sent the Parkland Nurse Residency information out to us. I am looking for advice as Parkland was one of my top places to work. I have work history in internal medicine, pediatrics, and EMS prior to starting the nursing program. I had planned on starting off in an ED anyway. I had some questions, maybe anyone could help me with? Obviously the pay is not what you can get starting off some places even as a new grad, but I feel the expirience would be invaluable. Especially, since I'd like to get my trauma certs, and all that. I assume the nurse residency program is part time with no benefits. I wonder if thats for the entire 3yr contract or just for the nurse residency period? Just looking if overall other new grads think this is worth it. It's 1hr 42 mins (plus Dallas traffic) from my house so I would have to stay in hotels or get a small apartment. That being said, any place with good expirience is over an hour from my house. My work options really are Dallas or Longview/Tyler. Thanks to whomever started this post btw, great info on here!

The residency is a full time employment with benefits. The residency training ranges from 14 weeks to 20 weeks depending on the department. Upon passing and completing the residency you  get promoted from nurse resident to RN 1.  I’m in the ICU residency currently. We finish on June 22nd. But I do anywhere from 36-40 hrs a week. This isn’t a part time job.

I got an email last night with the official offer and paperwork. I was hoping they would be more clear on the requirements regarding NCLEX. Does it have to be taken before we start?

Multiple people have mentioned starting a facebook page. Is anyone up for doing that so we can have better communication?

You have 4 weeks from the start of your residency. Personally I believe it’s best to take the exam prior to the start of the residency. Employment is contingent on passing.

Has anyone applied for the Fall 2021 residency at Parkland?

Hi. I was wondering if you knew anyone who didn't make it into the residency program? I've applied for the fall and I understand of course that not everyone will be accepted, but I was wondering if the application statuses eventually change from something like "we are reviewing all applications" to either rejected or this position has been filled.

Hi

I applied for the July 2021 residency cohort and I didn't get it. Your application will change from "applied" to "currently reviewing applications". Then you'll either get an email from a recruiter to schedule an interview or you'll eventually get a rejection email.

Thank you! So I guess it's pretty much a waiting game at this point. Although since I think interviews are supposed to be held next week and I haven't heard anything, that's probably my answer.

Did you end up finding a different RN position that fit better for you?

Hearing nothing isn't necessarily an answer since it's still pretty early in the application process. I did get another position at a different hospital so that's exciting. I've been working for 3 weeks now.

I can't recall if this was ever answered, but on the (external) candidate profile page, does it mean anything if under the 'jobs applied' section -- the text of "we are currently reviewing all applications" is red instead of black, or is it just a system thing?

Does anyone know if Parkland does nicotine testing?
