I know the state has gone to paperless licenses supposedly to protect a nurse's license from fraud, etc. But I just went to look mine up and now anyone can just pop in your first and last name and get your license number. How does that protect your license? I tried to call the board for information but nobody has returned my call.

It's always been that way, if I remember correctly.

You can find anyones licensure info online in Illinois.
I remember being able to find if you have a license and whether there are restrictions or disciplinary actions against it, but I don't remember seeing the number. I just don't get how this is supposed to be more secure.
