Palpations, physical exams on genitals?

In our health assessment course there is a few chapters on doing health assessments, palpating, exams etc on both male and female genitals. Is this done on eachother (students) or on manicans? As a young female nursing student I surely don't want the guys in my class to be doing that on me during labs, I'm very self concious and heavily involved in my religious beliefs and do not want the students in my class to be doing that on me. How was yours done? any sigh of relief plz

I would expect that it would be unethical for a nursing school to subject it's students to something like that... at the very least, a lawsuit waiting to happen. I didn't know the mannequins are so high-tech though... That's really neat!

I think most programs have the sim labs where the manequins are built to simulate real life situations. They have complete anatomy from head to toe so students can practice as if its a real patient, except that you cant kill a mannequin lol. Our sim labs have a laboring mother that births a baby. All the sims can be injected and will register if doses were correct or not and respond accordingly, and much more. They're really neet. Then of course we have individual body parts for practice in the lab classroom.

When I was in school we spent about 20 minutes on that in lecture and moved on. If your instructor is making you palpate your classmate's genitals then I'd say there's something wrong with them and they probably need professional help.
