palpatation question

I was just wondering, I have always had heart palpatations, my doctor is aware of them in fact I tell him sometimes when I am in checking my bp or getting medication adjustments, my mother used to get them too, she never had a heart attack she had bp problems so I guess it is hereditary considering I have had high bp since I was 11.

he says there is nothing to worry about, I have been told I have a mild heart murmur, which I have always known, been told that alot over the years by different doctors, but not all doctors can hear them, so I guess it is mild.

well I don't remember ever having any palpatations while exercising before, been on beta blocker now for about 6 or seven months, in fact they made the palpatations better didn't get them that often.

I did saturday while hiking some pretty hilly trails and I wonder since taking a beta blocker if since my body needed more oxygen (been five months since hiking trails and I used to hike them regularly except this year) and since the beta blocker keeps my max heart rate in the 130's cannot seem to get it to go higher if that has anything to do with it,

will be seeing my doctor this week anyway and will mention it to him, but till then I was wondering, does palpatations during exercise mean I am overdoing it or mean I increase my liklyhood of a heart attack? (there is no pain, just a funny feeling, which is somewhat uncomfortable)

I am obese, but have always been active, I exercise regularly at least 4 times a week, unless injuried or sick which is rare, I even jog some too during my walks and never have chest pains or palpatations before, I am up to about 3 minutes of jogging time now, been gradually increasing my distance,

I am currently working on improving my diet with a view to trying to coax, notice not force, but coax my body to rid me of this excess fat or weight, muscles have weight too, by improving my quality even more than I have, reducing my fat intake at least by fifty percent. but in the meantime I don't want to stop my walking, jogging or my other exercise I plan on doing when I finally find a bicycle that I want.

I just started on seasonale and I am sure it has something to do with the palpatations but I just want others who are expereinced in this field to give me their insights and expereinces, not diagnosis, just some idea if it is still safe for me to exercise despite the palpatations, do people who take birth control pills have this problem ever?

at first seasonale decreased my appetite, (but I am not positive it was seasonale) then it increased for a few days then it decreased, not sure what to think of that.

Hello, curiousJoe,

Well, I think you know there are many factors here. Yes, PLEASE just do not MENTION this to the physician, but, relate exactly what is going on. You must tell him/her what meds you are taking, prescription and OTC.

Good luck!
