  1. all animals were put into subjection and it is our obligation to put an animal down if it is injuried or sick beyond repair and not let it suffer a prolonged death provided it is within our powers to do so. the fact the animal is wild doesn't negate man's stewardship over them. I have had to kill ground hogs that were severely injuried, did I enjoy it? no but it was within my power to do something for them and if they can't be cured. humans are another matter we have not been authorized to kill other humans even if they are suffering terribly, but it's the individuals responibility to decide for themselves what to do, if your sick and you won't get better I can't imagine that a person would feel like they did something wrong just because they refused certain treatments meant to prolong that death. as long as they decided for themselves and someone else didn't decide for them except in the case of a person who didn't tell others ahead of time and put it in writting it falls on the family to decide what they know or think their family member would want if that person is in a unreversible coma or something. but we must be careful not to make end of life decisions lightly, doctors are not always right about prognosises, they sometimes make mistakes about whether a person will recover or not. so it stands that we are very careful about the descion to end of life, waiting to exhaust all options. especially when there is a way to control pain and suffering long enough to be sure. RR
  2. because animals were put into subjection to humans not other humans. we don't have the right to decide who lives or dies that is purly the right of the creator. as for humans, animals were put into our care and stewardship or rulership if you will but other humans were not put into subjection to other humans. any subjection that humans have over others is relative. but the individual has to decide for themselves what they will do. that is why humans commit no wrong when they kill an animal for food or to protect themselves as long as it is done with the least amount of suffering. 3. I was just wondering how much profits do hospitals make? is it really that much? and could the hardships low pay and over working of nurses have anything to do with the fact that it is mostly woman that are attracted to nursing? I know there are some men nurses but my experiences shows it is woman dominated. I mean it used to be a honorable thing to be a secretary back in the hey day before woman started to take over that area when they started to work outside the homes and thus the prestige fell and so did the pay. if men dominated the nursing field do you think that pay would be better, less overworking and less blame on the men nurses for problems even tho the administrators are actaully at fault for overworking nurses and the long working hours and poor support for them? I was thinking considering that adminstrator postions, in hospitals, in politics and in corporate america men dominate, could this have something to do with it since men generally have more in common with men then woman and will favor mere images of themselves then woman even tho a woman gave birth to them and raised them? and do the men nurses tend to make more money that you know of for performing that exact same work as some of the woman nurses? just curious. RR
  4. he wanted me to take iron supplementation.l and retest in six months, by the way can low mcv values mean you are closer to death than say having larger but fewer blood cells. I was wondering because I have chest pains, I told my doctor about them and I have had complete exam on my heart and such, and it is fine, bp is controled very well. can anemia cause heart attacks or something? oh yea how long before I start to feel better? does the body continual make red blood cells as others are destroyed? or is mostly a flush of new cells every so many days or weeks? and for compete recovery? RR
  5. If I am ever in the hospital again I want you!!!! to be my nurse. I promise not to be overdemanding thinking you are my maid I promise! also burn out is plausible, maybe to many overdemanding patients who are just using nusrses as personal assitants thinking they are the only patients you have. but also it could be just lack of empathy. and yes they are berating you because you are showing them where they need to work on, that they are falling short of important nursing skills, people skills in this instant. when I was in the hosptial a while ago, a few years in fact, the nurses there was super nice to me, another nurse that came in every two hours for pulse and blood pressure and temps wouldn't even talk to me, she just did her job without saying a word. I was unable to sleep, so I would of loved a hello or whatnot. even if briefly. I think she was mad about something maybe working the night shift? RR
  6. he asked me if I had heavy periods, which in fact I have for years, that is why I started on seasonale, when I say heavy I mean flooding periods, where you have to wear two overnight extra size pads at night because it would flood over in a matter of a couple of hours. I went to the gyn for a complete exam, he didn't find fibroids or anything out of the ordinary, he thinks it was hormonal, they did a complete panel, my reg doctor who told me about the mcv did a complete panel too and he said everything looked okay, he didn't mention ferritin or the other stuff. I would go through 30 or more overnight pads during my cycles. this would explain why all these years I seem to get gradually weaker, in fact it was so gradual I started to accept the fact I have lack of stamina and am more tired then my hubby who has always been healthier than a horse. I thought it was my diet, changed that for the better more fruits less junk, a good quality vita supplement (without iron) and such. never guessed all my problems was anemia, I thought maybe thyroid, but that was okay, I also increased my exercise and at first I seem to get some energy afterwards but then I found I was getting sicker and sicker after each exercise bout to where the pauses between exercise was getting longer since I felt so bad. I even did some jogging there for a few months. so I hope it is only because low iron and not some other condition, my doctor is a very good doctor he has been my physician now for 10 years or more and I go there for hypertension management, he had always been helpful when I tell him things he needs to know, and I can understand that even doctors sometimes forget to tell you eveyrthing you know being so distracted on explaining to me mcv and what that means and such he probably didn't think about telling me about the ferritin thingy. RR
  7. I was just wondering about something. I just found out I am anemic, my MCV was low, my question is could this have been an on going problem? I mean does the blood cell become smaller when in advance anemia that has been going on for years? I remember about 10 years ago one doctor said do you know you are borderline anemic? but he didn't explain it and I didn't pursue it as I figured if it was important he would of did more then just make the statement. I was also wondering, can anemia really make you feel so bad? I feel aweful all the time that is why I went to my doctor about it and he did a complete blood and urine panel and every thing was okay except the mcv. I feel like I am sick, like I have the flu, but no fever, all the time now, before it was feel bad for a few days recover repeat for months and months. I thought maybe I had a thyroid problem or immune system problem. but I just can't imagine why such a minor health problem can make you feel like crap. any comments on this? RR
  8. I don't know about all the vege non vegie diets etc, I do know that our bodies do thrive on variety. genetics plays a large part of what is healthy for us, considering that european white backrounds lived mostly in areas where fruits and vegies were seasonal, whereas in some tropical regions they had it all year long. even in african nations fruits and vegies are seasonal the rest of the time they have to subsist on meat milk etc. they don't seem the worst for wear. except their life spans are shorter than ours due to aids, other diseases, and sometimes their diets may contribute such as those tribes that eat milk/blood combos. I can only imagine what drinking blood can do especially using animals that may be infested with diseases or parasites. but meat in itself doesn't hurt you. maybe the hormones they use on these animals or manner of handling has more to do with it. also as for the obesity thing it is also strongly genetic you can have a hundred people doing the same amount of exercise eating the exact same type and caloires of food and some will get fat and some wont'. some will have heatlh issues others wont', food related or not. also the increasing of obesity as an epdiemic the numbers so called increasing 3 fold is junk science. all they did was lower the weight charts and people who were considered normal or just slightly overweight became obese overnight without even gaining a pound of weight. those the got fatter were the ones who were already obese. and as for teaching people what to eat that won't work. diets are very personal things and no one person can say what should be the standard, if one person is a vegie eater only does that mean they should impose that on others through peer pressure, media attention or even laws? wouldn't that be imposing our views of how others should eat drink sleep etc on others? as for food addictions we are all addicted to food, not one person on this board could just stop eating and not suffer withdrawl affects. we would suffer starvation syptoms after a while. withdrawl symptoms happen when our fuel needs fall below what is needed for survival. same goes for air if our air supply would to fall below needs we would suffer withdrawl symptoms. so we are addicted to air and water too. as for the true cause of obesity, basically it is a complicated thing, but one could narrow it down to just plain not eating enough and on time and not eating well, ignoring hunger cues, etc, showing the body through non eating and low eating habits that famines happen and when food becomes abundant again it will want to stock up. so famines cause obesity. first is the famine, trying not to eat, or eat so much when you do due to health considerations or trying to lose weight or at least not gain any more which many can do for a while until saved up hunger catches up with you and the feasting starts. that is why it is called the famine feast cycle. the famine comes first. genetics determines how your body will respond to such a restricted food enviroment. some bodies put up with it with little fan fare others don't and go into fat storage mode. but in order to have the caloires it needs to do so it needs to get you to overeat so it has extra to store. thus releases of eat hormones, I believe one is called galanine not sure on the spelling, just as an example. thus the binging (regardless of how hard the person tries not to overeat) that happens to people especially obese people after a period of undereating. sometimes people are so used to the dieting mentality and years of on and off dieting they miss hunger cues and aren't even aware they are undereating until the dreaded days come when they can't seem to stop eating. so it has little to do with moral character and everything to do with biology. RR are we allowed to cite websites and books where we got info?
  9. I am not a nurse but a witness myself, and if I were you all I would talk to the elders in your congregation they can help you better than anyone here. also I don't smoke, but if I worked in a store I would have to sell them to others if I didn't own the store. this principle may work here, I don't know. when I took care of my sister who smoke she couldn't hold cigerattes anymore due to MS. I refused to hold or light them for her. was I wrong? don't know., all I know I didnt' want to contribute to her health problems since the doctor said to quit as it worsens her ms. but if the doctor had ordered it for her health (just a pretend situation) just like medications I would probably have done it. even if I disagreed with it. 10. I was just wondering, I have always had heart palpatations, my doctor is aware of them in fact I tell him sometimes when I am in checking my bp or getting medication adjustments, my mother used to get them too, she never had a heart attack she had bp problems so I guess it is hereditary considering I have had high bp since I was 11. he says there is nothing to worry about, I have been told I have a mild heart murmur, which I have always known, been told that alot over the years by different doctors, but not all doctors can hear them, so I guess it is mild. well I don't remember ever having any palpatations while exercising before, been on beta blocker now for about 6 or seven months, in fact they made the palpatations better didn't get them that often. I did saturday while hiking some pretty hilly trails and I wonder since taking a beta blocker if since my body needed more oxygen (been five months since hiking trails and I used to hike them regularly except this year) and since the beta blocker keeps my max heart rate in the 130's cannot seem to get it to go higher if that has anything to do with it, will be seeing my doctor this week anyway and will mention it to him, but till then I was wondering, does palpatations during exercise mean I am overdoing it or mean I increase my liklyhood of a heart attack? (there is no pain, just a funny feeling, which is somewhat uncomfortable) I am obese, but have always been active, I exercise regularly at least 4 times a week, unless injuried or sick which is rare, I even jog some too during my walks and never have chest pains or palpatations before, I am up to about 3 minutes of jogging time now, been gradually increasing my distance, I am currently working on improving my diet with a view to trying to coax, notice not force, but coax my body to rid me of this excess fat or weight, muscles have weight too, by improving my quality even more than I have, reducing my fat intake at least by fifty percent. but in the meantime I don't want to stop my walking, jogging or my other exercise I plan on doing when I finally find a bicycle that I want. I just started on seasonale and I am sure it has something to do with the palpatations but I just want others who are expereinced in this field to give me their insights and expereinces, not diagnosis, just some idea if it is still safe for me to exercise despite the palpatations, do people who take birth control pills have this problem ever? at first seasonale decreased my appetite, (but I am not positive it was seasonale) then it increased for a few days then it decreased, not sure what to think of that.
