PACE ABSN fall 2015 (NYC)

Published

Hey everyone!

I wanted to start a thread for anyone that applied to PACE for the fall 2015 accelerated cohort in NYC. I submitted my application a while ago and have been reading previous threads. Some of the applicants were interviewed and they seemed to received their acceptance/rejection letters quickly.

good luck to everyone!!

Also, I don't know if you guys have read the past posts about Pace's NYC Acceleratrd program. Lots of negative reviews, is there someone who could shed light on how the program is now? Thanks in advance!!

@dreamnurse21 how was your interview? What are your credentials like if you don't mind

@dreamnurse : I made a Facebook group. Search "Fall 2015 Pace ABSN." As for negative reviews, a lot of those are from 2009/earlier dates. The program is no longer a combined BSN/NP program. However, you have the option to apply to the program at the end of your year in the ABSN program. Yes, it's rigorous. My understanding is that it will probably be more difficult if your background in science isn't extensive. I have a background in neuroscience and took a premed path during my undergraduate education. As a general rule, there is very little hand holding in science classes and intensive programs like these. I find that you end up teaching yourself a lot of the material. From what I've been told, there are tutoring services available and professors are more accessible than they have been in the past.

If anyone is interested in statistics as far as people who have already been accepted, I don't mind sharing mine.

I went to a top 30 private school and graduated with honors with a 3.7 major/science GPA and 3.7 overall. I graduated in May and have been working as a mental health counselor in a community residence for psychiatric patients. I work overnight shifts and day shifts. I'm first aid and CPR certified. I have experience shadowing NP's, MD's, etc. I also worked in a hospital focusing on rehabilitation for stroke patients. I have some non-medical related volunteer experience too.

The interview wasn't too bad at all. It's fairly relaxed. I was lucky and only had a two person interview. Otherwise, most people interview in groups of 5-6 with two interviewers present. Just prepare for general interview questions (why nursing, why pace, etc.)

@srooz wow you have a lot of experience... That's awesome

@srooz I'm trying to search the group but nothing is showing up....

Lol it's really not that much. It just sounds like it 😛I'm sure you're just as well qualified if not more!

I applied just before the March 1st deadline. I checked the status of my application under Pace's portal, and it says that a decision has been made, but I have not been notified yet. Did this happen to anyone else??

@brokeee1100 I applied on feb 27 and my status still says completed. Did not hear anything back from the school except decisions will be made in 6 weeks.
