I have read the warnings to mix Oxaliplatin in D5W only. Does anyone know why you can't mix Oxaliplatin in Normal Saline? And if you do make that mistake what the effects would be to the patient?

Apparently NS or any chloride ions inactivate the drug. Serious potential adverse effect on the patient, obviously. This would need to be reported to the medical team.

Thank you. This did not occur, it was a question asked by a patient and I could not find the answer on the net. Thanks for responding so quickly.
If you ever need drug info online, try searching "drugname" + "product information" and you'll usually get a link to the manufacturer information.
