Ok people,
I'm in need of some positive energy here...
I am currently 3 semesters (including summer) away from applying to RN programs in my area (los angeles).
Anyone in this area would know all the hoops one has to jump through in order to get in to the RN program. I am in progress for all those hoops, the thing is I'm feeling like I'm not making any progress. Everyone in this area is doing all the same steps if not more. I know I should "keep my head high" "think positive" but it's hard when here I am literally existing for the RN program. Im taking the maximum classes possible so I can apply sooner. Each class I'm taking says that they should be the only class someone should be taking at one time, so with them thinking that's all I have I have a boat load of homework. I am taking a medical certificate class on the side because the nursing counselor recommended it and I'm also volunteering. I just quit my job so I could squeeze all this in for the moment but in the next few months I have to start working again. Not to mention all this is being done with the hopes of getting in... and If I'm lucky and get in on the first try it still wont be another 3-4 years till I'm done... I have 2 kids (which I barely see cause of my schedule, and am not with the dad so I live with my parents which is also stressful because they feel I should already be done. I'm to the point where I just wanna give up and do a TRADE LVN program so I could just be a nurse and be done with it all.
Ok I feel better venting thanks allnurses... :redpinkhe
Any advise??

Yes, I live in the LA area and the amount of classes to take to statisfy all the RN pre-reqs is ridiculous. I may not be older with kids but its still hard for us youngins to get into pre-req classes as well as ace those classes to GET IN to NS, let alone complete NS.
I know how you feel. Everything feels so slow. You tell yourself that you only have 3 semester to be able to apply or whatever to get in the following year but the time thing gets kind of old.
Just stay focused, and think about your end goal.
thats how I get through the day.
