overseas nursing (thailand?)

Published

I have always wanted to go live in thailand for a while. I was wondering if anyone has ever done a overseas travel job there? Or ever worked there as a nurse? How realistic would it be for a male nurse to work as a nurse in thailand?

Disclaimer: This is mostly just opinion with a little internet research and asking friends living in the LOS.

My guess would be close to impossible as a nurse working for a Thai company. Not only do Thai nurses make about $350usd a month but I think nursing is one occupation that foreigners are specifically barred from doing (was told this, NOT TOTALLY SURE). I have even had trouble finding ways to do it for free as a volunteer. That being said you could look into DOD jobs, embassies, and companies like international SOS, or perhaps teaching nursing at one of the universities that offers an English language nursing program. My take on it is if a Thai can do it they aren’t guna let you unless there are specific circumstances(which in all honesty could be just wanting to have a white face on display).

If you do figure something out please let me know. I would love to hear of options I haven’t thought of.

I think back to living in Thailand every day. Was one of the best times of my life.

My thought is it would be easier to find employment at western wages in other SEA countries where there is a large military presence(S. Korea, Japan)
