Hello everyone!! Am I the only one in California to want a Career change at 40 and male?! Since I am self-employed as a Fitness Trainer for 20 years now, I have had a great life. I have an Exercise Science degree from USC, have a CSCS certification and have an EMT-B because I thought I would be a Firefighter or in the LAPD. Neither was hiring at the time but I passed all of their physical tests. Anyway... The problem is that I have a family now and need a salary, benefits, paid vacations etc..etc.. I love my job but need to face reality and

re-invent myself. I am hoping there are older male or female recent nurses or students that can help me choose the best path. I am looking at National University, Phoenix University as online options. I just started so I am open to other schools in CA.

In a nutshell, if all goes well, I hope to start this Fall of 2012 and try to finish as fast as possible. The problem is that I am also looking at:

  • PHYSICAL THERAPY ASSISTANT
  • ATHLETIC TRAINER
  • HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER WITH A MASTERS IN TEACHING

I have 4 awesome options to choose from. Anyone out there know if they have contacts that do any of these for a living? I want to choose my next career wisely and want to hear all the pro's and cons out there. I bet if I waited two more months, I can answer all of my questions. But since I have ADD (and proud of it!), I decided to reach out and see if anyone know someone that went into Nursing late in life? Or my 3 other options I listed above.

Nursing is my first choice because from the limited research I have done, it pays better and I can keep studying and one day become a Nurse Practitioner. Plus, the variety of options in Nursing is actually interesting to me. Thanks for your reply in advance.
