Outside the US?

Hello -

I am currently not a nurse but a military guy. I am considering leaving the service in the next 3 years to pursue nursing and one of the big ideas is traveling. Is it possible to do travel nursing outside of the country. I'm single, lived in Japan for 2 years and love language barriers. :) So ya, is travel nursing the correct term or is it something else for outside of the country. I haven't found a lot of info on this for Americans trying to work out of the US more for other nurses trying to work in America. I'm open to working just about anywhere (besides the desert). Any insight would be great. Thanks!

Alex

There are some opportunites for out of country travel - but usually only to English speaking countries (UK, Australia...). I haven't heard of anything in a nonenglish area unless you know the language VERY well! DH and I will be leaving this summer for a travel assignment in the UK through Continental Travel Nursing.

You didn't say but do you already have your nursing degree? Most companies require BSN degrees AND at least 1-2yrs experience in the US.

No I do not currently have a nursing degree. I am considering it though. After living in Japan, I realized that I love living overseas so I want to do that as much as possible. The military wont really let me do that as much as I'd like unless it involved a place with sand and no beach. Thanks for the info, Europe would be great. Anyone know of other places to go / has anyone else done the travel nursing thing?

i too am interested in international travel nursing - specifically in australia. im having trouble finding good resources for information. if anyone knows of some helpful websites please share.

meanwhile ill look into "continental travel nursing." thanks waterlily252!
