Hi, I am a new grad RN currently in a residency program. I am currently have 8 months of PCU experience and have decided that I want to leave the bedside for numerous reasons: night shift, bad unit culture/bullies, poor mental and physical health, and just burn out. I've struggled with this decision for months. I applied for an outpatient clinic job and passed the first round of interview and next week I have a tour of the unit and a peer interview with the other nurses. I just wanted some tips to ace this interview. I know they are definitely going to ask me why I am leaving the bedside so soon and I'm not sure how to work my answer without sounding too negative.

Be honest with them in that you are looking for a better work fit for you and your home life for a long term job commitment. Highlight the skills that you've developed which will make you shine in the new job. Discuss how you are a team player and staying too long in a job that is not meeting your needs won't be good for anyone. You prefer to be proactive and positive in your professional growth.
Things like that.
Everyone has bad jobs. Lots of us get fired even. As a hiring manager I was looking for critical thinking team players who also wouldn't be doormats or a pushover.
Good luck.
