Hi, I have just officially hit my 1 year mark of being a RN and I am also relocating due to family reasons. I have applied to multiple positions of varying specialties. I currently work in a cardiac stepdown unit. My dream specialty is NICU. I have an in person interview but it isn't until July 1st, because they want meet me in person. However, I have a phone interview with a cardiac stepdown unit on Wednesday of this week. I'm torn because in the chance that this job offers me a position, I don't know if I should turn it down or accept it. I want to wait out for the NICU position, but there's no guarantee I will even get the job, especially considering my experience I am more likely to be offered the cardiac job instead. I'm not happy with the adult population and have always known that I would want to change specialties. I also know that RN positions have been difficult to come by so I don't want to in between jobs for too long once I relocate, but also want to be happy. Any advice I would greatly appreciate.

Hi, I am a new grad RN currently in a residency program. I am currently have 8 months of PCU experience and have decided that I want to leave the bedside for numerous reasons: night shift, bad unit culture/bullies, poor mental and physical health, and just burn out. I've struggled with this decision for months. I applied for an outpatient clinic job and passed the first round of interview and next week I have a tour of the unit and a peer interview with the other nurses. I just wanted some tips to ace this interview. I know they are definitely going to ask me why I am leaving the bedside so soon and I'm not sure how to work my answer without sounding too negative.

Hi, I am currently a new grad RN in a transition to practice program. The program consisted of strictly classroom education for the first month, then 8 weeks with a preceptor on the floor then you are considered off orientation. Through the first year, you meet monthly with your fellow new grads to complete an EBP. You technically "graduate" after one year once you finish and present your project. It is also key to note that you are a staff nurse once you begin on the floor. I am currently 1 month off of orientation, and I think the unit's true colors are showing. I work on a PCU/med tele floor. I don't hate my job, but I feel like it is definitely affecting my mental health. I feel like some days I have no support. I'm not where near lazy, I bust my butt off everyday, but always feel like it isn't enough. I know a lot of it has to do with being a new grad in general, but I'm not sure if it should be this bad. This was no where near my dream job when I graduated, but I moved states to a pretty busy city so nursing jobs were hard to come by especially in a specialty so I took what I could get. Currently this is about 5 positions open in the hospital NICU. The job description states 2 years experience preferred and I'm not sure if I should apply to it or not. I don't want to make myself look bad, or like I'm giving up, but this seems like a good opportunity. I found the nurse hiring manager's contact. I'm not sure if I will even get the job, and I do not want people at my current job to talk about me if they find out I applied and didn't get it. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Please be kind :((

I interviewed yesterday and received a call today with an offer.

I have my interview tomorrow at Dallas and I'm super nervous. What are some questions did they ask?

I haven't heard anything back from L&D or NICU Fort Worth either.
