Outcomes Management

Published

As senior nursing students, we have been asked to study outcomes management and how it is actually practiced in today's nursing world. We would like to gain some knowledge of outcomes management from nurses who use this as a part of their practice and what role it plays. We look forward to your responses. Thank you!

Huber states that, outcomes management is a "multidisciplinary process designed to provide quality health care, decrease fragmentation, enhance outcomes, and constrain costs" (2010). Outcomes management provides a way for interdisciplinary collaboration in improving patient outcomes. There are many benefits of an outcomes management program such as decreasing healthcare costs, decreasing length of stays, improving clinical outcomes, improving system processes and developing outcomes research.

Question #1: How does your facility implement outcome management into daily practice?

Question #2: As nurses, how is outcome managment used on a day to day basis in your own individual practice?

Some schools do this...however if you wish to get answers it is best to let us know a head of time that this was the assignment and not your homework question. We strive to help students be the best nurses they can be.....we ask that all students give what their research has shown first and we will jump right in....Our goal is to be supportive.

Are you asking what our facilities do to

implement outcome management into daily practice?
how do YOU think facilities do this? Are you looking for examples?
