I don't even know if anyone still comes here but I wanted to post this info for future referece at least for any lurkers, etc
I am a student at UCO and today we had all some people from admissions from OU, UCO (duh), SNU, and OCU Nursing Schools. I asked a lot of questions and here is what all I found out.
-OU Nursing:
*Had over 1000 applicants which was for all the nursing programs here in OKC and in Tulsa (RN-BSN, BSN, masters nursing, NP programs, etc)
*The lady told me average GPA was anywhere from 3.2 and up (only look at your cum GPA and nothing else....they also don't accept classes you have forgiveness on, etc ALL GRADES count with them)
*NCLEX pass rate 92% overall (from all their nursing programs).
*goes by a point system which they didn't give too much info on except...preference for Okla residents, 1 semester at OU, GPA
-UCO Nursing
*NCLEX pass rate 91.9%
*205 applicants/80 selected
*Average overall GPA of accepted students was 3.4 and average science GPA was also 3.4 (they look at both). Higher your GPA the more points you are given.
*3 faculty recommendations are given points, the new nursing test they have is not given any points so you don't have to make a certain grade on it.
-SNU Nursing
*seemed weird to me...lol
*NCLEX pass rate at this time was 50% but she said not everyone had taken it yet
*start nursing classes in the spring of your sophmore year (so for many students it may take longer to graduate because of they way they have their program set up).
*Program not competitive to get into, private school so more expensive but she said there was a lot of financial aid available (I personally know one girl in this program and though she LOVES it, she is in debt with loans to pay for it up to her eyeballs!!)
-OCU Nursing
*92.8% NCLEX pass rate
*Very easy program to get into because the school is expensive they don't have many applicants
Just wanted to share what I found out. Seems like everytime I talk to someone at OUs program I hear something different....lol
I'm applying to both UCO and OU this year for the fall. Good luck to everyone :)
I am currently a junior in the traditional OU-BSN program in Tulsa and our class has a lot of age diversity. I am 26 (about to be 27) with a previous degree from OSU Stillwater. I would say in our class of 50 that there are about 7 men (4 of them being over 35) and there are many married students, and probably about 8 female students have children and most of them are in their upper 30's. We also have some very young students who are 20 and about to turn 21. The class is fairly diverse in age, but not necessarily in gender or race. They have also told us that the Tulsa program is the hardest to get into, but I have had nothing but good experiences. The only thing that I would consider disorganized is the fact that we don't get our schedules until like a week before class. Also, the student nurse association at OU Tulsa gave us a study-guide CD with all of the objectives for each class filled out and study guides for each exam for all 4 semesters and tons of pharmacology charts. It has been very helpful and saved me a lot of time and allowed me to study more. Everyone seems to be very helpful and the students are not cut-throat and competitive with one another.

Well I'm now a senior graduating this semester so some things have changed from my original post. You will need to talk with Brenda who is the nursing adviser and she can give you the details.
I know when I applied 2 years ago we had to have Fundamentals of Nursing, Intro to Nursing, and Human Development before entering the program but now the program has changed and I don't really know how it is for those applying now. Brenda is your best bet.
