OU "Reading Day"

Published

Did anyone see the announcement from OU about establishing a "reading day" in the fall semester? Apparently someone has taken notice of the students "academic fatigue" during the midterm of the semester and they are allowing students to be out of class for one day to catch up on reading, assignments and study for exams. Ain't that nice...

Well, how about the on line students "academic fatigue"?

As I have been reading here and on facebook, people in this program are more than burnt out.

Wouldn't it be nice to get an extra day to turn in assignments in these fast paced and demanding courses? I bet the nursing department would never hear of such a thing, becauses nurses are superhero's and are able to work without sleep or adequate nutrition and can hold pee for eons. Right...??

It's about time they consider the needs of all of the enrolled OU students.

What they really need to do is offer the 5 week courses for people who want that ****, and then offer the same courses over 15 weeks for people who want that. The 5 weeks courses are for the birds. Seriously how much do you learn and actually retain over 5 week course? The only thing I've learned is how much I hate 5 week courses.

Well, to be fair......we get what we paid for. You can't expect to take 5 week classes and get a break. It is what it is. This has been a pain in the butt but I'll have my BSN in 16 months. It's worth the aggravation to me.
