OU ABSN 2016 (OKC)

U.S.A. Oklahoma

Published

Hi guys. I am applying to the OU Accelerated BSN program in OKC in August. At that time, I will only be missing one science (Micro, which I am taking in the fall). Anyone else here planning to apply to the OKC campus for June 2016?

ALSO -- anyone who just started the ABSN in Oklahoma City for June 2015, do you mind sharing your cumulative 60 GPA and science GPA? I have been emailing with an advisor who gave me the stats for 2013, 2014 and 2015, but wondering from folks who are actually in the program now. :)

Thanks!

Congrats to those who got accepted! May I ask those who got into the Tulsa program what your science and last 60 gpa's were? Also, did you have all prereqs finished? Sorry if I am getting too personal, I just would like to know if I have shot next year. Thanks in advance.

Hey, I had around a 3.8 last 60 & a 3.7 science with no prerequisites left.

My GPA was 3.9 last 60. 4.0 for science. Currently finishing micro and stats. Good luck to you next year. I know it is incredibly stressful during the wait to find out if you are accepted or not.

So -- I was waitlisted but just got a call that I am now ACCEPTED to the OKC campus! Orientation is tomorrow. Is there anyone else on here going tomorrow for orientation? Thanks.

Congratulations. ;-) I am going to tulsa orientation in January. So happy you got in.

My last 60 was around 3.8 my science that were pre-reqs were 4.0. The only pre-req I didn't have completed was Stats.

Congrats to all that made it into the OU ABSN program. I graduated from the Tulsa ABSN program in the summer of 2012. The program was definitely doable and the 14 months goes by fast. I came to this site because I am applying to OU's PA and NP program for the summer and I ran across this tread.

The schedule of the program took a little getting used to at first. You are pretty much in class Monday - Friday 8a-5p at the start of the program. Classes weren't bad. The toughest class in the whole program was Pharm (assuming Ms. Lawes still teaches it). The instructors were nice and they all wanted to see the students succeed.

I plan to bridge too! Did you find that the NP programs required a certain amount of work experience in nursing before applying?

Thanks for letting us know about the schedule! Is there anything you wish you would have known going into the program? Don't buy books for a certain class etc. Thanks for answering!

Well I released my spot for the OU ABSN Tulsa program :) Hopefully someone who is waitlisted will be contacted soon. Congrats in your new path nurses, I hope to work with you in the future as a PA ;)

Hey everyone! I am wanting to apply for the OU ABSN OKC campus program for 2017. I graduated with my bachelors last May. When I decided to go back to school for nursing, it early January and the I was only able to go to smaller community colleges for my science pre reqs. Do you think I would even have a chance of acceptance? My last 60 hour GPA is 3.9, with 40 of that being from OSU. My science GPA is around 3.5.

Yes, you will have a good chance. I did all of my pre-reqs at a small community college and I will start at OU in June. You can do it!!!!

Awesome! Thank you!

Hello, I have been accepted into the 2017 prog and wanted some information since I am a single mom and want to plan well, I can have help 8-5 but are there days when you start say as early as 6? I hear during clinical they start early and do they start at the start of prog or mid or end? I also hope after to go into NP how is that experience?

Thanks much

I Don't Know About OKC or Lawton but I'm Currently In The Tulsa program and our clinicals are Tuesday & Wednesday & the start time is usually 6:30 am or 6:45 depending on your clinical instructor & i cant remember the exact start day of clinicals during the Summer but we started clinicals pretty soon after the semester started. Regular classes usually don't start before 8-8:30 ish. Hope that answered your question. :)
