Hello all
I am a respiratory therapist and I am wanting to transition into a RN program
I have a choice to make
Excelsior College straight into there RN program
or
Entering an LVN program then transition into a RN program at my local community collage
Other than California and Maryland are there any other states that do not recognize a RN degree from Excelsior College
Thanks
Ken

The big problem with the Excelsior letter that you posted is that the California nursing schools are already backed up and can't take on any other students! The board said that EC would have to have a 400 hour precepted program that met the criteria....that is next to impossible here. Call Excelsior they will tell you flat out in their state boards office that there have been no more talks in a year. They will also tell you that students who have been applying with RN experience are being denied if they haven't met the criteria. The preceptorship they require would involve the California schools who are already backed up with their own students. That letter came from Excelsior and I advice you call the board like I did. Excelsior doesn't grant the licensure the BORN does...and as of 3 days ago if you didn't meet the deadline you can't get licensed.
