I am Wency, a registered nurse in the Philippines. I recently passed the IELTS (8.5, 7,7,7) and the NMC part 1 competency test which is the CBT. Now, I am preparing for the final test which is the OSCE. I am currently in the United Kindom particularly in Lincolnshire, and I would like to ask you guys if you know a training agency in the UK that provides training or preparatory course for OSCE because I am not confident to take it yet for some reasons that the Uk healthcare system is different from the Philippines perhaps they have different approach in providing care to the patients and etc.
Tuition fee for intensive revision for OSCE is not a problem as long as I can enroll for revision.
Hey, also from Canada, just received notice that I can register for my OSCEs. Did you feel that is was similar to Canadian requirements or was it over and above in any way?
i have horrible test anxiety... but i know in a real hospital/ clinical environment I would feel fine about my knowledge and skill set, but i find the whole idea of the OSCE really unnatural...
How long did you give yourself to prepare (full days)?
I hope you are happily working as an RN in london now! =)
Dana's passed it! Unfortunately, i have to resit..but don't worry, i found the exam easy and very basic. I was probably just to complacent about it. When you book for the exam, you'll be given access to an online learning. Everything's just there. :) sorry, i can't really say anything about the exam coz i've signed a non disclosure.
Do u have to repay for the test to resit it?? How long did u have to wait in the queue to get authorisation to take the osce??
Hi my name is Ashley I'm a 5 year icu nurse from texas. I've submitted all my forms and am waiting to get authorisation to take the osce. How long did everyone have to wait in the queue?? And if u have to resit it, do u have to pay again?? I find the test fee sooooo expensive and I couldn't afford it twice, are all y'all paying privately?? Xxxx
Hey girls!Hobestly don't stress! It's basic nursing knowledge and if you have been a nurse for a year as required you will be fine! Use the documents they give you!!
Best of luck
Hi Dana.. also from Canada, did you just give yourself the two weeks recommended to review of the supplied materials from northampton.. or did you prepare for longer? i just feel like my nerves will get the better of me..
I haven't been working as a nurse for the last year as i've already been in the UK.. dealing with the NMC (originally applied with the old ONP programme but they messed up on their end and i was so delayed i had to reapply and go the exam route =S)
im planning on registering for the OSCE end of March, just waiting for my CRNBC registration proof for this year to come in, as by the time i sit the exam my last years one will have expired.
thank you! ps do you have a job now?
Hi guys!
I'm new here. I'll be sitting my OSCE next month. I'm really anxious. I haven't received my login details for the online resources from northampton. I don't know where to start, I hope the one month is enough time for me to prepare, problem is I'm currently working as an hca. Anyway I'd really appreciate it if someone gives out any advise on how to prepare for the test. Thanks.

I have just received notification from the NMC that i can register for the OSCE (well one week ago), i am just making sure i have all my original documents in order before i register for a test date.
How long have people been taking to review, asides from the recommended two weeks? I will have to book some time off from work I suspect (currently working as an admin in the NHS).
Is there anyone currently reviewing based out of London?
I am hoping to register for the test end of March/ early April.
For those who have taken the exam do you believe it to be fair? Did you find just reading through practical skills and procedure docs (all the one million resources provided) to be helpful or did you actually find somewhere to practice the skills/assessments when reviewing? (i sadly do not have access to anywhere to physically practice or handle the equipment and have not been working consistently in hospitals or as a nurse for the last 1.5 years).
I find that there is a lot of resources they give you to review... so I am wondering what to leave out and what to focus on as it would be impossible to go over all of it again (as in school we had 4 years to do this!). any tips?
thank you....
also i'm quite nervous.. i know i would've performed well in the old ONP system & i would not have been worried about the probationary period, but I feel with the OSCE, it is highly unnatural (actors and dolls) + the pressure of someone sitting staring at you and being filmed... i feel like these things will be my problem and not my actual knowledge or skill set... how do you trick yourself into pretending the scenarios are real life?!?!? i have terrible test anxiety =(
