osce ( observational structured clinical examination)

World Registration

Published

Hi,

I am internationally trained nurse from India. I applied for registration as RN in college of nurses of Ontario Oct 2011. They took over a year and finally determined that my education/ experience is not equivalent to those of current graduates of Canadian nursing program. They have asked me to write Observational Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and pass in order to show equivalency. My question is that have anybody else been asked to take OSCE exam and what to expect? Also what does the college consider while evaluating education as other nurses from my college have been given eligibility without fulfilling any other criteria or exam!!

Yeah so now we can do the exam or choose to close our file

Anyone willing to practice for upcoming osce in Toronto?

Im in toronto im just reviewing the dtandards of practice, ethics and the Canadian nsg funda.

What are you doing for the review?

Hi forever24,

thank you for the reply.do you know how long it took for that somebody you know to get advised again by the CNO to attend OSCE at the CEHPEA? sorry for asking too much :( i just want to weigh my options against my time.i am thinking to pass over my deadline of submission which is on june 7 because of my slim chance of attending the august sched anyway. So i might as well wait after my deadline to pass and have the chance of being reconsidered or be advised again to go for OSCE as i was also told by the CNO customer service then i can probably have it on oct sched which is the same time as my annual leave...tsk.tough but i am praying for His guidance.

I undesrtand your dilemna, one of my friend sent email to CNO and ask all these things, according to him most probably your application will be consider to possible decision which is to study 18 months but there is probability that you will be reconsidered but thats a little chance. I think for a win win solution is to proceed with the osce. Its just we must have Faith that we will pass the osce, and if its all Gods will, thy will be done.

Hi hansame_15,

thanks for the empathy.i am actually willing to go for the exam but it would be very difficult for me to beg for even a 5-day leave to go, have the exam and be back to my work again.Anyway, goodluck to you :)

hi.. i'll be joining this forum.. i also received my option form last may 26 and wanted to know if someone already taken the exam.. i'm quite confused on what to choose. i don't want to withdraw from my application though. do someone have an idea about the exam, any review materials available? do you know how much the expenses is? thank you. i hope someone will answer my inquiry.

I purchase the osce reviewer in amazon.com by caballero, I browse it at it give you some pointers to review and what are the stations scenario. There are also some tips how to approach the scenario and others question by the assessor. Try to download the kindle book of osce which is is 21 CAD only. Hope it wil help you anyway. August OSCE exam is full already the only available now is october.Register immediately once you received the password.God Bless to all.

hi lhot1234rn,

I think she waited for a month or so. My advice is do not procrastinate things. CNO rules are unpredictable.

If you will submit your application before the deadline, there is no assurance that you will be accomodated for August exam, once their seats are full they will book you for the subsequent month. Persevere in praying that God will put you through in his perfect time.:)

Does anybody get their Osce result yet? It's been 8 looooong weeks:lol2::laugh:.

I agree also. I surrender to Lord God for everything if its His will thy will be done. Be patiently wait.
