Hello, please I will be graduating in may from a nursing school in oklahoma and I plan on moving to Houston. I have a passion for working with critical patients and would love to know if anyone could help me get an interview in an ICU or er unit. My email is [email protected]. Thank you.

Chances of a new grad - who did not do clinical rotation within the facility -- getting a shot at ICU or ED is very slim. Even more difficult if you're not a BSN grad. You'll probably need to lower your sights to a more realistic target. No one is going to interview until you have a TX license in hand. Look at the suburban/community hospitals. There's just no way to get through the door for an "interview" without being processed by HR via an online application system these days.
Suggest - not moving unless you have a job. Get some experience in your local area first, then try it.
I will be graduating with a BSN and I completed my critical care rotation at the top hospital in oklahoma... I really would love to live in Houston. I have applied at pretty much all the hospitals in Houston... I guess I will just wait and see. Thank you for your advice.

tips from a Recent Grad c BSN from another state. I moved to San Antonio couple months ago.....if I could give you advise or any out of state nurses would be to apply for your TX license from oklahoma and take the test over there. Once you have your license go ahead and start applying online.....but to be honest....Houtx is right, getting an interview w ICU is totally out of anybodies league especially for new grads with no job experience. I've applied to many, hospital reply back we have further to pursue with other applicants....mainly seasoned nurses who have previous ICU or other related experience. There is no way around this....personal experience. If you do want to move here....I suggest you move here.....very hard to find a job when employers see you are out of state (u don't even get a call) same thing happened to other classmates that wanted to move, but didn't physically move. They end up staying where we graduated. Other thing would be find an internship or residency. Found my job two weeks after my license was issued...only bc I applied in person and hit it from the start. I'm so thankful for this.
