Orthopaedic clinic circulating nurse here

Published

Fellow OR nurses. I fortunately got hired as a Circulating Nurse in a Ortho Clinic. We do alllll kinds of surgeries from breast implants, facelifts, colonoscopies, etc.

I'm volunteering (NO PAY)...for a couple months now. I might be on the salary in a few weeks with 18dollar/hr pay.

I don't feel appreciated at my work. They tell me i'm slow, but i do see some improvement over time.

Well i just want to know if my experience in a Non-acute hospital be counted in a hospital setting. 2months experience soo far. i hope i can apply to a hospital soon for i wish to earn money for my family.

you can not/should not go in with "experience" after 2 months at a clinic type setting, which sounds like an ASC. You will be setting yourself up for failure especially if they are telling you already that you are too slow. You will get eaten alive if you go in touting experience at a hospital. Usually if you are experienced it is with 1 year minimum, 2 years preffered in a real surgery setting. I have had "experienced" RNs come in like that and I let them go withing a couple of weeks.

Why the heck are you "working" as a volunteer? Very strange indeed. Go apply at some places for internships or places that are hiring people to train into OR.

I'm confused...you do facelifts and colonoscopies at an orthopaedic clinic? This just doesn't make sense. And how is it possible that you are circling for free. You are crazy.
