Orlando v. Tampa

Published

I can't decide which city. I'm from Orlando, but I kinda want a change in scenery. Tampa is closer to the beach and not too far from my family. Also I'm interested in working in the NICU and Orlando has Winnie Palmer.

Does anyone have any info about what its like working in Winnie Palmer?

What are good hospitals to work for in Tampa?

Is there a difference in salary between the two cities?

Any info would be helpful...

Specializes in Med-Surg.

I think salaries are lower in Orlando according to a coworker who just moved from there, but not by much.

The best hospitals in Tampa are the large not for profits Tampa General and Saint Josephs. They are trauma centers and I believe have NICU's.

Thanks for the information. Do you know anything about All Childrens?

Specializes in Cardiology.

I don't know anything about working for All Children's but on the flip side, my teenage brother was a pt there last year for open heart sx and it was a great experience. Well, given the circumstances, you know what I mean ;-) The nurses in CVICU were wonderful.

I work in the same hospital system as Winnie Palmer. Let me tell you, it is a beautiful hospital! My friends that work there are happy. I'm happy with the organization all in all. The pay is good for our area, but their medical insurance is expensive in my opinion. Good thing hubby's job has great benefits. Lots of opportunities to grow to with this hospital system.

Good luck in whatever you decide.
