Some "just curious" questions.

How much orientation did you get when you started?

What did it focus on?

Was it here's how to run the clinic or here's how to handle students?

Do you work with other nurses?

Do you have a mentor?

Was it long enough or did it cover enough?

What's your school population look like?

How much orientation? Not much - I started subbing before working FT as a school nurse - orientation consisted of me stopping by the school for the nurse to show me where everything was located and briefly how the computer documentation worked - I was there maybe all of 30 minutes. When I became FT - no orientation since I had already been subbing so I knew how the system worked.

Do I work with other nurses?NOt really - I am the only nurse at my school but other nurses are just a phone call away if I have questions. We are a large district with 65+ schools and each school has their own nurse and high schools have nurse and an aide.

Mentor?No mentor, because I started subbing before I became FT I ended up becoming friends with some of the nurses - I would just call them if I had questions.

School Population? Elementary school K-5 with 835 students.
