I am a foreign nurse. I have not practice nursing since 2006. But I work as a Patient Care Tech right now.
Today, I took the nclex-RN and did the Pearson vue trick shortly after the test and got the bad pop up. The
Computer shut off at 76. I think I guessed most questions. As a foreign nurse, the hardest part is pharmacology.
Can anybody give me some advice on how to prepare well for the next time I take the test; around April.
I want an input from people that went thru the same path.

There are many posts in the NCLEX forum with tips on how to prepare.

i am a foreign nurse too. i graduated in 2008 and had taken nclex 2x. i failed with 75 questions on the 1st try with only pharmacology content that i failed. the 2nd time, i got 265 questions with all content NEAR PASSING. but i get on my knees again and study more. I am planning to take this march end or april 1st week. Right now, I am using saunders and i read its content from page 1- the last page. taking all the quiz at the end of each chapter and the exam on the cd. I also used the nclex 4000 and i bought the LaCharity on prioritization. I am praying hard that with these materials, i will be able to nail it this time.
Good Luck to us, we will make it and we will not entertain depression again..

I'm a foreign nurse as well with no experience whatsoever. I failed my NCLEX once and just took the test yesterday with the good pop-up. To tell you the truth, repetition of medicines or other topics is my key on remembering it.
The mnemonics in this forum is the best! It really helps a lot. There's lots of infection control in my test.
La Charity helps a lot with Delegation and Prioritization. Goodluck! You could do it. :)

I'm a foreign-trained nurse & also found pharmacology on the NCLEX very challenging. Saunders is helpful because they follow each section on bodily systems with the a chapter on the relevant pharmacology. What helped me most was doing a Kaplan online review course a week before my exam, & reviewing their online pre-recorded pharmacology lectures on my computer & taking detailed notes on the content.

Hello everyone!
I;m a foreign nurse too and failed the Nclex about 2 weeks ago. I found thou, that I have the knowlege, but have hard time applying it. Tests in Europe are just so very different, and that's playing against me as well as test anxiety...

As a European trained nurse who took the NCLEX (& passed) last month, I'd recommend Kaplan online. The course I did was incredibly boring & slow going, but they have the formula down, & basically they teach you how to pass the test - which is all you need to know.
Arden, where are you from?(what European country)
I trained in the UK

I found learningext by NCSBN OK and I am a UK trained nurse. I think practice plenty of questions and read the rationale is good but also if you have experience forget it and try to look at the questions as a new grad. I finally passed on 3rd attempt using just Saunders and learningext
I think the reason I did pass NCLEX on the 1st attempt was that I took Kaplan. It helped my American husband into Columbia medical school (MCAT prep) & it helped my South African nephew into pre-med in the US (SAT prep). It also helped both my stepchildren into excellent US colleges, so I'd recommend it to anyone. (I should add that I don't work for Kaplan!)
