Has anyone taken the oral communication class in college? What was it like?

I am going to be a pretty big university and alot of the general education classes have 250+ students. Im so nervous about this class. Im 18 but I still sound 14 and my voice is SOOOO country. LOL. But I have to this class to get into the upper division of nursing.

I would also like to know if anyone knows of any organizations that teach spanish? I really think it would be helpful for me to learn spanish.

Thanks

Hi,

Is oral communications the same as public speaking? Im assuming that it is...I too took it at a big university (Pitt). Its not that bad. Itll be over sooner than you think. And our class was about 50 students i think, not 250, but I would just think to myself that everyone else is as nervous as I was and that sort of helped me. We also had to give feedback on everyone's speeches (i guess to make sure we were paying attention) and everyone gave everyone good feedback.

Its not as hard as you think.

Good luck!

Hey I took public speaking at a large university and its not that bad. My class personally had a smaller size (somewhere around 40 students). But I did have a few of my friends who had classes in the 100's for their oral communication classes, and when the classes were that big, the class was split up in to like 5 smaller groups when they had to give their speeches and they had graduate assistants watch over each group. I highly doubt that if you have an oral communications class with more than 100 students, you wouldn't each individually give your speeches in front of all other 99 students because it would take FOREVER to get through your speeches and the class would sort of be pointless. You would definitely be split up into smaller groups. Hope that helps you. :specs:

It's like public speaking. You get up in front of the class and give your speeches. Good luck. :)
