I have and it was a nice switch. If it's the fast pace of the ER which is keeping you there it could be a difficult transition. But if you are like me and was tired of the B.S. of the ED and the pace because patients that did not belong there and looking to slow down some then the OR can be a good switch. It's nice being one on one all the time. Depending on what you are doing for the day you can either by running the whole day or have time to explore the internet.
You will learn a whole new set of skills but lose alot of skills you use in the ED. In the last 7 years I have started 2 or 3 iv's, no IM's etc. One skill that will help is most past ED nurse do not freak out when there is an emergent case like alot of others who have not worked in a high pace setting.
If they are having you work through lunch and not paying you that is a violation of federal law

I did, not loving it so far. I miss using my skills. One pro is that I get all my breaks and its one patient at a time.
