OR rotation

i had an OR rotation recently and i was really excited for it. however, afterwards i knew it was not the specialty for me. i thought it was boring at times, especially because all i did for both surgeries was stand there. i felt kind of deflated because i thought i was really going to like it. did anyone else feel this way, with this rotation or another one maybe? i feel like im the odd one out because everyone always thinks surgery is so cool and some other people in my group said they loved the OR. but i definitely didnt feel that way. i prefer more patient interaction.

I thought OR was very fascinating, but I agree that OR nursing is very boring. It is a different type of nursing. However I did take an interest in pre-op and PACU nurses as they seem to see more "action." In PACU, I would have to say that watching people wake up from anesthesia never gets boring!

i didnt get to see much of the pacu when i observed which is why i think i thought that OR nursing was boring. i could definitely see myself doing PACU or even the pre-op. i want to do any field that has a lot of patient interaction and some type of "action" going on lol
