I've worked OR for about 10 years now. I've been thinking for the last few years about making a change. Our local hospital has an outpatient cancer center where I think I'd like to work. Has anyone out there transitioned from OR to Oncology? It will be a HUGE transition and completely different for me. I've been feeling drawn to do this for a few years now, but am afraid to leave my comfort zone. Any thoughts are welcome.

i went from er to outpatient cancer center, and although it was difficult at first (complete change of pace/personalities), i haven't looked back. a cancer center is a wonderful place to work. i love it!
thanks so much for your reply! that's good to hear

I do not know if I can be much help because I have never worked in the OR, but I have worked with cancer patients for 10 years and I love it. I recently moved to a hospice center but I miss my cancer patients.
Thanks for the feedback - any input is a help. I actually have an interview at an outpatient cancer center next week.
Can I ask you why you moved to hospice? I guess I'm wondering if it just gets too sad working oncology after a while.
Thanks,
Christine
