Option of textbooks or ebooks

Published

Hello everyone!

I'm straying nursing school in August, my program has given us an option for normal textbooks, ebooks, or both.i was able to buy ll of the textbook from a graduating senior for 500, but I was considering purchasing the ebooks for my IPad from the bookstore for another 500. Do you think this is worth the money, or should I just stick with the regular books I already have?

Thank you!

Mine are from elsevier too and I've been wondering if it's worth it to get the ebooks along with the regular books. Do you use the ebooks in class at all? I was thinking the ebooks would save me the trouble of lugging huge books around. I have a tablet and I think it would be nice to have a portable version of the books and copies that I could keep around so I eventually could get rid of my hard copies when I'm done with them.
I liked the ability to search on a word or phrase and have results quickly displayed from Fundamentals, Med/Surg, Critical Care, Pharmacology, and my drug guide.

I never bought the hard copy of Maternal/Child because we weren't required to.

I've long since dumped all the hard copies and just kept the Evolve books on my computer.

I'm not sure if I will need them for use in class since I don't start until the fall, but I will say that in all of my past classes I liked having my textbooks with me. I usually keep the textbook out and follow along in the lectures, highlighting things that the professor says are super important and making notes to add information. It's always helped me study.

I am in my last semester and have never used a textbook in class. The professors spend all of their time on power point and lecture. In nursing school, you are expected to read ahead of time & show up to lecture with a basic understanding. Nursing classes are nothing like prerequisites.... Or anything else you have ever done. If you spend time trying to follow along with the book, you will spend the majority of your time flipping through pages & not paying attention. I have yet to meet a nursing professor who follows the chapters.

As the taco girl says...."why not both?"

I'll be buying both since it's a part of my nursing book bundle. Best of both worlds. Searchable text for research and print text for longer readings.

We have to buy the Ebook package which is 700 bucks and then have the option to buy the hard covers if we like but there like a 100 buck each so I guess I'm stuck with Ebooks unless I win the lottery before September
