I was wondering if anyone out there was working @ a Golden living Center?
How it is to work for and Rate of pay? I will be moving to Heber Springs Arkansas at the end of August and I have applied to the one there. Any info would be helpful!!!

I'm not very helpful to you in regards to 'HOW THEY ARE" but I had to laugh because we just got a piece of mis-addressed mail to my FtrINLaw who is very young 61 years old... for a Golden Living Center new in our area. I laughed when I saw it... then I see your post! :-) Never heard of the organization until today...
BUT... as far as your request... Just go and observe for yourself how you feel it is. I doubt these are all the same across the nation. Probably only billing would be similar. I imagine that every facility would like to be judged on their own merit.

Well posting that question on here may be a long shot considering LPN/LVNs from all over the U.S., Canada, and else where read this forum. You might have some better luck with posting on your regional Arkansas forum. Best of luck with your new job!

I'm from Arkansas you might want to email me privately on this matter-
something else you can do- check the last state visit- see how many tags they gotten and overall how they did on their state's inspection-

I've worked for GLC since Nov. of last year. The company benefits are better than anyone else's around here and overall, I believe it to be a good company. OTOH, each facility of course has it's own admin staff and you take your chances no matter where you go.
I would also suggest checking the most recent survey results to see what deficiencies were noted. I checked nursing home report cards to "see" what kind of places were within driving distance before I applied. The score was below 50 (closer to zero the better) while the state avg. was about 200, max on the scale is almost 900.
I thought it was good place to work and I've been "ok" with the company itself, I just wish the admin staff would listen/act on issues that myself and other employees report. We do have a new ED so things are changing but very slowly.
Thank you all for your replies. I will certainly check into it. Sorry it's been a day or so to reply back. As with any nursing facility I am used to lots of administration problems and staffing issues. I am looking forward to the southern living and change of faces.

someone needs to investigate the GLC in Pennsylvania. They apparently like to get rid of their "older" workers and hire very young unexperienced staff. They're terrible to work for. i have heard and read numerous complaints from workers throughout PA that GLC are horrible. They hide things and don't report them, they don't care one bit about the workers...stay away if you can!
