Congratulations. on becoming an LVN!:yeah:I completely agree with JakeysMom. I too have been an LPN Charge Nurse for a year in an LTC setting. I also worked as a CNA for 8yrs. One of those working with the CNA'S i currently work with. That has been very difficult. But all in all I treat each one of my fellow co-workers with the utmost respect. And always try to help out when I can. What I can't stand is when a former CNA becomes an LPN and acts like everyone is then beneath them!! I've even seen fellow nurses yell for a CNA down the hall to get a resident a glass of water. Please! Please! Give me a break!! I better get off my soapbox! Hi Future Nurse 23. What made u become a CNA? When I first became a CNA I really did not enjoy it as a whole either. It took me maybe 6mos-1yr to love what i did for a living. And I fell in love with the residents right away it just took me awhile to get used to short staffing and some pain in the neck nurses. I've been an LPN for 3yrs now and I enjoy that as well. But with that is also alot of responsibilty. Since I work in a nursing home I don't get to interact as much with my residents as I used to as a CNA. Believe it or not I do miss it!! I don't know how long you have been a CNA for but maybe in time u will come to enjoy your line of work. But if not I don't recommend you pursuing a career in nursing. It takes alot of heart and patience to be in nursing. Good luck in your pursuits!!

Thank you all for your replies. I will certainly check into it. Sorry it's been a day or so to reply back. As with any nursing facility I am used to lots of administration problems and staffing issues. I am looking forward to the southern living and change of faces.

I was wondering if anyone out there was working @ a Golden living Center? How it is to work for and Rate of pay? I will be moving to Heber Springs Arkansas at the end of August and I have applied to the one there. Any info would be helpful!!!

I personally in the almost eleven years of nursing have had one incident that has stuck out in my mind. Last year I caught a family member of a resident stealing numerous food items from our residents snack cupboards. I told him to put the food back and that there is numerous food pantries out there if he had no access to food.He put all the food back and went back to his mothers room. I then returned to the nurses station to call the nursing supervisor and let her know what had happened. Apparently while I was on the phone with the sup,he had heard what I told her. When I got off the phone he became very angry. I then asked him to wait for the supervisor to resolve this issue. Anyway he ended up lunging at me over my med cart to hit me.I was lucky enough to have a couple of cnas redirect him before he got to me. That I will not forget.
