Operating Room Interview- New Grad

Hi! I have an interview coming up with Oschner in New Orleans in the Operating Room Department. I am a new graduate and this is my first interview as a nurse. I have looked through some of the other posts on this topic for questions that may come up during the interview which I have found very helpful for me to review. I have a few more questions.

As a new nurse, what should I expect from the interview? I have no nursing experience so I do not expect any specific questions related to how I personally cared for patients in the past. Will they ask me questions about jobs I previously held?

How much of my personal life will be brought up? How much should I be willing to share?

Should I bring a copy of my resume with me? More than one copy?

Should I be prepared to leave a thank you card/mail a thank you card? I have seen this mentioned quite a lot through internet searches.

Is it standard practice for every hospital to hold multiple interviews? By that I mean, first round interviews, then call backs for second round interviews?

I would definitely bring multiple copies of your resume in case it's there's more than one person interviewing you.

The only question I was really asked was why I wanted to get into OR nursing. The rest of the interview focused on how life works in our OR and what I could expect. I did have friends who interviewed on other units in the same hospital who were asked those pesky behavioral interview questions they warned us about in school, so you may want to prepare for those just in case.

I sent a thank you email to the nurse manager after my interview. Not sure if it helped, but I got the job so I guess it didn't hurt!

I only had to go through one interview before I was offered the position. I also had another interview scheduled with another hospital (before I was offered my current position), and I believe they did multiple interviews. I think it's very hospital and possibly unit dependent.

The most challenging part of my interview as an OR Trainee was that I did not have a RN experience and they wanted hear just that.

I had 5 panel interview with about 30 questions based on "what would you do if...".

Since I had many years of hands-on pt care experience and direct customer service, I guess they saw I was very passionate to become an OR RN and picked me.
