Hello everyone!
I was hoping that someone would be able to help me with a question I have. I searched and did not see this so hopefully someone has an answer! I called the South Carolina Board of Nursing to find out if SC accepts degrees from Excelsior (or really any of the online schools). She referred me to the NCSBN website and told me to search for the schools on that website to see if they were listed (as in whether or not their graduates can sit for the NCLEX). I asked her if it was listed on the website then does that mean that if I were to attend the school and pass the NCLEX then would I be able to be employed in SC as an RN. She just kept telling me to look at the website and never answered me. I was wondering if anyone has any other info available about how I can find out this information...
Thanks!!!

Excelsior is only for LPNs, Paramedics, RTs, certain kinds of military corpsmen, and nursing students who have completed at least 50% of their clinicals; in essence, people who already have experience as healthcare providers. You can review the admissions policy on EC's website: http://www.excelsior.edu/special-requirements-associate-degree
Thanks Lunah!
I am actually in the EMT course now, hopefully to move on to Paramedic and then to nursing. (That is my plan anyhow). There is a local school that offers a Paramedic-RN bridge program but I was thinking about Excelsior as a back-up... I was just concerned about whether or not I would actually be able to work in SC after I finished. I know it is quite a ways off but I am just trying to make back-up plans so I know I am moving toward my ultimate goal!!!
Thanks again for your answer!

SC board of Nursing accepts Excelsior nsg grads, however there are some employers in SC that will not hire Excelsior grads. I have worked with several LPNs that completed EC and were able to get RN jobs.

Are you planning to work as a paramedic, or are you just using it as a stepping stone to RN?
