Hello. I have been an RN for 16 years having graduated from one of the "old school" hospital programs. I had every intention of returning to school quickly thereafter so my employer could pay for the rest of my education. Life and kids got in my way and time passed. I know that I need my BSN at this point to move up as I have burned out. I decided that I may as well do the RN-MSN track as I'm not getting any younger. I have worked the majority of my years on acute mental health units. I have developed a love of geriatric patients, though, and am not sure if I want to specialize in geriatrics or psychiatry. I have gotten more medical experience working in homecare. My major concerns are as follows:
-Suggestions for the best online RN-MSN programs as far as quality for the cost. Not necessarily the cheapest. Convenience is more important as I need to keep working.
-I am now worried that my credits won't transfer after this long. I spent two years part-full time taking pre-reqs before getting into the school. They had a lot required. If those are now completely wasted, it is quite disheartening. According to Walden University's info, they expire after 5-10 years.
Any info would be appreciated. I have spent a lot of time looking at programs but it is quite overwhelming to narrow everything down.
Thank you!

Have you looked at WGU's RN to MSN program? It's about as self paced as you can get, and you can get in as many classes as you can take for a flat 6-month fee. They accept even old classes, with a few exceptions (statistics being one).
Thank you. I will definitely look into that. Anybody else have any more for me to look at?
