online RN to MSN with bachelor's in another field

Hi all! I am looking for an online bridge program RN to FNP that would take my bachelor's degree (in another field) into account. I spoke to a brick and mortar school that would do that, and I would have to take only 3 classes to get my BSN, but so far I haven't found an online program like that. If anyone can recommend something, it would be great.

If there is no such thing, please let me know which online program you went to and if you were happy with it, even if it doesn't have any special accommodations for second degree, so that I have an idea of which schools are worth looking into.

TIA! :)

I am in the same boat. I understand what you are saying. I have not found a program like this. Please keep me up to date if you find anything!

I have a bachelor’s in Psychology, an ADN, and 5 years nursing experience.

I’ve done quite a bit of looking and have spoken with numerous universities. I have found that nearly every bridge to FNP (my ultimate goal) program will have you do BSN credits one way or another before taking master’s level work. Some of the expensive, for-profit schools are exceptions. I’ve decided to stick with not-for-profit, graded (not pass/fail) schools in the hopes that will make it easier to find clinical preceptors when the time comes.

I’ve found that my best bet was to choose a program in Texas that will recognize my Texas undergraduate credits (UT Austin) so that I have less BSN level courses to take. This means my English, history, some sciences, maybe stats, etc will be accepted.

I’ve chosen UT Arlington, for now, but I’m having second thoughts because it’s been well over a month and they still haven’t evaluated my transcripts or my financial aid. They’ve had numerous nonsense holds due to a clunky computer system. They also are very tough to get a hold of on the phone. The last person I spoke with told me that this would be resolved by Monday. It’s Wednesday and nothing has changed. Classes start in less than two weeks.

Now I’m looking at other RN to BSN programs. If I have to take those classes, anyway, maybe I can find a more responsive, better equipped institution to give $10k to.

Specializes in MSICU.

Northern Arizona University has a program for those holding an associates in nursing and a non related bachelors in order to get a MSN. I am just trying to to obtain info myself on if it is online and if that MSN could is for advance practice or just a generalist masters.
