Hi!
I am a returning student who already holds a Bachelors degree in another field.
I would like to pursue a BSN, but seem to be running into some road blocks.
Has anyone successfully completed an online program for a BSN without holding an RN?
Or....Do i just get my RN first? and if so, are there straight online programs for this?
Thanks!!

Most online nursing programs are RN-to-BSN programs, and not all of then are accredited in all states because of different requirements from each state's BON. There are RN programs set up as hybrids where you do the majority of your theory work online, but then practice in a skills lab and work at clinical sites. Many people in your situation look into a community college or hospital-based RN program, take the NCLEX after graduating, and then begin a BSN program, many of which are online and take about a year to do full-time. You could also explore an accelerated BSN program, but these are not typically completed entirely online. You need practical, in-person experience.
Good luck finding something that works well for you.

TY!!
I have looked into the program at my community college.
They just don't offer a rotating time to apply; like fall and spring; it's only in the fall and tough to get into at the community college!
Also, the hospitals here to do not have an RN program; i did try that; thought that would be a good way to go too!
I had someone else in the field tell me that once i get my RN I could just get my bsn online and that the hospital here she works for pays for it.
I am applying to the only local ABSN program here; we will see if i get in!!
