MDC Nursing Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone! I just wanted to start a thread for applicants of the nursing program at Miami Dade College for Fall term 2017. I'm currently working on my last prerequisites and will be finished this semester. I plan on taking the HESI A2 in January and applying for the Generic and Part time tracks.

Hey Everyone I'm really inspired but all of you alls post! I got my acceptance for MDC, after meeting with an adviser at the medical campus, i found out i have about 5 pre reqs even with already holding a BA. I honestly want to start studying now for the HESi even though i wont be able to take the HESI until spring 2018.

I start May 2017 with A&P 1 and Chem for H.S.

Any thoughts or suggestions ?

STUDY! Cliche, but strive for all As in your science pre reqs. it'll make a difference competitively.

Hello everyone!

I am also applying for the Fall 2017 generic option at MDC. My gpa is 3.53 and my hesi score is 81.71% I am planning on retaking it before May.

Hey everyone. I was originally going to apply to MDC's nursing program but was done with all of my required classes and Broward College had a sooner start date than MDC's next enrollment so I decided to take their HESI and apply to the program there to start in May (hopefully). Their prereq requirements are less than MDC but they require a minimum of 75% in every individual subject on the HESI. They're closer to my home also so it would be best for me personally. I got a 92 cumulative score on the exam. For everyone studying for it, the elvesier study book is really spot on for all the subjects minus the sciences. Broward doesnt test on Bio or Chem so I can't say for those two subjects but the A&P section helped some but I ended up putting my own notes together from people who have taken it and from questions I remembered from my own exam. For the math part, make sure you know how to do all fractions (add, subtract, divide, multiply etc. both proper and improper), proportions, Fahrenheit to Celsius and vice versa, a huge part of it is metric converting, there was 1 problem with roman numerals, one problem with probability (what is the prob of rolling a 5 on a die), know how to convert lbs to kg and vice versa & household measurement conversions. There's a lot of mnemonics I learned and they made it a piece of cake! Hope this helps. Feel free to ask me any questions about the test. Dont freak out over it. It was really simple. Good luck everyone.

I have a question. for the MDC hesi is it cumulative, or do you have to pass each section with a certain percentage? because i know from broward you have to get a 75% on each to pass

Mdc's is cumulative

These were the class average scores during the time I took my HESI:

Anatomy & Physiology 68

Biology 67

Chemistry 70

Vocabulary 78

Grammar 76

Read Comprehension 78

Math 75

Hi,

Where were you able to see these average scores?

You can see the class avg after you take the exam through elvesier

Hi,

Where were you able to see these average scores?

Hello everyone. I am currently half way through my first semester. If anyone has any questions about the school or the program I would be glad to help you guys out.

So how's the program? Is it hard/doable. Are you in the generic program? What are the days and hours of the program?

Hey everyone, I am done with all my pre-requisites and currently studying for the Hesi. I am planning to apply for full-time this fall.

for anyone who's finished with MDC pre reqs for the HSC001 it says 90 clock hours how many days is the class?
