  1. You should end up with these classes for first semester in the generic route. -NUR 1060C Adult Health Assessment -NUR 1025C Fundamentals Of Nursing Skills Lab -NUR 1025L Fundamentals Of Nursing Clinical Lab -NUR 1025 Fundamentals Of Nursing -NUR 1142 Introduction To Nursing Math & Pharmacology There’s one person who registers everyone in the program for their classes so sometimes you’ll gradually receive your schedule.
  2. Looks like it’s a combo for Med surg and funds for you. Med surg is usually started in semester 3 for the generic program but since you’re coming in as previous medical background, looks like it’s combined. Advanced Med surg is your last 2 semesters. Here is the course sequence for the transition program for MDC from their site for you to follow. https://www.MDC.edu/nursingrn/course-sequence.aspx#transitional
  3. I’m guessing you’re in the transitional program. Nur1002 is Transition to Professional Nursing. Instead of taking Fundamentals, you take this class. Your schedule if you’ve received it, should show the start day for clinicals. It’s usually not right at the start on your first classes but I’m not 100% with the transition program. The Description of this class shows: This course introduces students with prior health care education to the nursing profession, nursing role, nursing process and the implementation of health-promoting activities to meet patient needs. Students will learn the nurse's role in meeting short and long term needs of the patient through preventive, therapeutic and palliative care. Students will also explore nursing care of the adults with moderate alterations in health within a body systems framework. Prerequisite: Admission to the School of Nursing. Co-requisites: NUR 1002L, 1142. Special fee. (6 hr. lecture)
  4. Our fall semester ended 12/18/20 and Spring started 1/6/21. My fall Semester (final semester) this year ends 12/12 but I’m not sure if it’s earlier because we graduate.
  5. Yes that’s the correct one. One is to do a background check and the other is for you to go and get fingerprinted.
  6. To make sure you're covering everything, on your acceptance email, click on the blue hyperlink that says: Please note that to reserve your seat, you must complete all requirements listed within the "Generic Full-Time Nursing Program Admissions website" (or whatever your option), and upload all required documents into your Complio account. Complio: American Data Bank's "Complio" is an online system used by MDC's Medical Campus for tracking immunizations and other requirements. The cost is $24 for one year or $45 for two years. (do 2 years) CPR: make sure its through a program thats with the American Heart Association Level Two & AHCA Background Screenings:The cost for both background screenings is $129.(the level 2 screening will have to be done again while in the program since its only valid for a year) Titers & injections: Varicella (Chicken Pox), Mumps, Rubeola (Measles), and Rubella (German Measles) blood titer lab results Two current (within the past 3 months) consecutive TB skin tests (at least 7 days apart) or the QuantiFERON test A minimum of a 10-panel drug screening results (make sure you do the minimum of 10 drugs bc people did the 6 or something and it was invalid) Hepatitis B vaccine series Tdap vaccination within ten (10) years All of these titers and injections can be ordered through your pcp. If you don't have one, you can order your own titers through personalabs or labcorp. There's coupons out there to make them cheaper. The vaccines can also be given at pharmacies. Hope this helps. Congratulations everyone
  7. This is completed by your HCP after you have your labs done because thats part of the form.
  8. Congratulations to those getting your emails. If you haven’t received anything yet, don’t worry. Every single person who applies gets an emailed response. Unfortunately they are all different days. As far as getting your Complio done, just do your best to have everything in by the due date loaded into complio. Because we are still online, they have been lenient with Complio
  9. I answered previously but I’m going to paste it here Incase. As far as scheduling, It's done by random pools. One person registers everyone randomly for their courses. Only thing I've noticed from one semester to the next is it seems like they try to keep students in the same/similar schedules or teachers each semester but its not always the case. Also, everything as of right now is being done online. We are required to sign on at our scheduled class time and be in uniform just as you would if you were on campus. They have started to open the skills lab at the medical campus for certain days a week to practice hands on skills this semester so that's very helpful. We use the ATI program as part of our coursework and its an amazing tool if you use it. Each semester you are required to take an ATI final exam for your classes (first semester is only funds, second is Pharm & med surg etc) along with the professors final exam. First semester schedule for me was Monday 9/1-12/18 8-1045 am then 2-445pm Tuesday 9/1-11/8 430pm-550pm Tuesday 9/1-12/18 11a-130pm Thursday 9/28-12/18 7am-3pm Second semester I was in class 5 days to start and then 4 when skills dropped. Clinicals is 2 days instead of 1 second semester
  10. Correct, the TEAS is counted as an overall score and what they are looking for in the science are your science courses. They take the courses and give you an overall science GPA. Unfortunately there’s no way to tell what criteria is best for this coming semester. It really just depends on how many ppl apply and their scores. Here’s some input, I had I think a 74 on my TEAS because I tested and applied the last day and had all a’s in my science courses except for a c in chem lecture and currently in the program
  11. You can apply to the Baptist program once you have your acceptance email from MDC. You will need it to submit your application along with your references, and I think transcripts. The application is on the MDC website with the due dates and requirements. And yes, those classes you mentioned for the BSN program are required to be completed prior to applying. As far as scheduling, It's done by random pools. One person registers everyone randomly for their courses. Only thing I've noticed from one semester to the next is it seems like they try to keep students in the same/similar schedules or teachers each semester but its not always the case. 12. Hey everyone. Currently in the program so decided to come and try to answer some questions I’ve seen. -HSC is required and I believe you’re required to have the lab done with it. -Microbiology lab is not a requirement/prereq to get into the program but you will need it to graduate. If you do not take it before entering the program, you will need to take it along with your nursing courses in order to graduate. -CGS has an exam you can take to test out of the program. You can do this while enrolled in the program up until I believe the second semester but it’s best to get out of the way now since you have time before classes start. If you do the test rather than the class, it will not count towards your GPA of course but it will satisfy the requirement for graduation. -There is a Baptist program that will pay for your tuition and have a job upon graduating that you can apply to after you get accepted into the program. You will need to have all of your generic classes done for the bachelors program to be considered. There’s info on the MDC website. I know it’s difficult not to stress about whether you did enough to qualify and get accepted. Realistically, the GPA’s and TEAS scores that get accepted are all over the place. It will depend on how many ppl apply and of course the higher the scores the better. MDC is an amazing program. In my experience, the professors want you to succeed and will help you as long as you put in the work and follow what they recommend. As far as the schedule, first semester schedule for me was Monday 8-1045am then 2-445pm Tuesday 11-130pm then 430-550pm (drops after I think 6 weeks) Thursday 7-3pm clinicals (starts at end of first month) Keep in mind, there are classes all day into the evenings and I believe possibly on weekends. You are given your schedule & teachers. Second semester is 4-5 days a week and I know some have clinicals on weekends. Clinicals are two days a week second semester. MDC has tutors available, the teachers are pretty good at responding to emails for help or questions & making friends in the program to go through this journey isn’t hard and def recommended. If you have any other questions, I’ll try to come back and answer them if I know the answer. Good luck to everyone!
  13. No. I called The fingerprinting place that I got mine done on and they told me that they can confirm that the results were sent to the school But no one has access to the results other than a computer that’s locked in the access but because the campus is still closed no one has access to the results. He told me to upload the Background authorization form you got in your email when you paid for the test and I just put in comments what he told me. They denied it but put a note in there that it will not affect my approval date and we will get it when they open the school To upload it
  14. I’m missing 2 things but they’ll be uploaded end of week when I get them back. I sent you a PM
  15. CONGRATS! I got into full time and part time at the medical campus. I chose the full time generic route.
