Hi all, I'm starting this as an ongoing thread from the LSU BSN Spring 2015 thread - For those of us who are applying for the first time, or those who are re-applying. That thread was extremely useful in chatting with other applicants throughout the process whether about prerequs, the actual application, or the interview process. Hey, Ntassin!

How early has everyone submitted their application? I just did so today (1/13/2015). Was it a bad idea to submit it so close to the deadline? Another random question: does being a guy increase my chance of being accepted? I have a pretty good HESI score/GPA and my family/friends said my paper was great, but it would be cool if, as a white male, I had an upper hand as a minority for once! Or is the idea that nursing school consists mostly of females false?

And is anyone else super nervous about this? I got a new surge of nervousness after turning in the my application packet. It's a mixture of anxiety and impassioned butterflies. AHHH!

I wouldn't worry about when you turn it in, it isn't like first come first served or anything. I'm actually turning mine in tomorrow, on the final day, because I was waiting on one last transcript.

As far as who has the upper hand over whom has everything to do with GPA, HESI, goal statement, and your interview. So if all of those things are good, then it sounds like you'd have a pretty good chance. You just never know who is part of the pool that you applied with!

And yes I am super nervous / anxious / everything else. I am sure everyone will do just fine!

I'm so glad that there's finally a thread for this! I Wasn't nervous until I turned my application in... Now I'm freaking out!

does anyone know when we hear about interviews?

this is my second time applying. I applied last Aug to start in January but got on the wait list. I have 2 C's in my first 16 hours so that's a huge bummer / dragging me down. I am currently re-taking one of those classes which unfortunately won't count toward this application but hey, what are you gonna do! I could very well end up on the wait list again applying with the same gpa, but not applying was not a choice.

I don't know when we will hear about interviews, all I can tell you is that last time when the application was due Aug 15, we were notified Sept 2 that they were reviewing applications. Then I was notified on Sept 11 that I got an interview. I interviewed Sept 23, then I got my letter some time around Oct 25.

My only piece of advice is try not to be anxious and just stay positive!

I've been checking my email like crazy too. But The last time I applied around this time, they sent me an email on February 7th

was that email about an interview, or just letting you know that they were reviewing applications?

they changed the application/interviewing process recently, but at that time they sent an email for me to choose my interview date. have any of you all received any emails lately either about the interview or that they are reviewing the applications? When I applied for spring 2015, they sent an email about them reviewing the applications first.

I haven't received anything yet. I just called and they said they're still reviewing applications. :/
